We won the six nations in 2009. We beat Australia in the World Cup just before this comment was posted in October 2011. We qualified for Euro 2012, which in relative terms, is successful for us. We achieved those things by playing an "unattractive" style in both sports, but the fans were fine with it. Look at the thousands that went to Poland to support the team despite our defensive style. Pat spillane is dead right in what he is saying. the entire country was sickened by that game but spillane was one of the first to praise Donegal when they progressed their style of play this year and deservedly won the all ireland.People need to look at what pat is actually talking about instead ridiculing him cause they don't like the character of the man.

Of all the pundits in both codes the only one who makes my skin crawl is Joe Brolly. Spillane is a loose cannon whose lift clearly doesn't go all the way to the top but he shoots from the hip which is entertaining. Brolly is the Northern Nerd, Spillane the Southern Swine and O'Rourke the Meath Muppet. Mind you, Pat needs to be careful. Some Donegal fans assaulted him this year, a fact which Mr Brolly seemed to relish reminding him of.
