I'm usually a pretty upbeat guy but there is this cynical side of me that comes out when buisness bureaucracy and hypocrisy comes up, or people just being asses to each other. (Like with several game companies right now or come woke or anti woke folks out there.) This game taps into that and helps me not only cope with that but also see some of those things within myself. So yeah thus game is fun and makes me think. It makes me think! And laugh! So yeah, I'm enjoying myself.

The worse part this is an extremely treatable disease they're plagued with. It's just the Flu a few vaccinations and some medicine to work through it and this wave of death wouldn't even be a problem. This company prides itself on being cheap garbage that even the tools used to protect themselves is cheap and busted. 4:07:00 One thing I really like about the writing, the game goes out of its way to present you these typical villains, and then takes a single step back to be like, "No, of course that's not what they're really like. Calm down before you kill them." Speaking of, I killed Reed to get a look at his locked room, then after reading the documents in said room, felt so bad about it I reloaded and tried to do things nicely. He's literally just a low tier manager who is in a shit position, trying to keep people alive and fed. Anytime he tries to make things better, corporate steps on his neck and asks for outrageous conditions to get anything done. He completely believed if he got the numbers for the cannery up, he'd be able to afford to make things better, but it was an impossible task to begin with. Other "villains" that I ran into are likewise sympathetic. Only by the third location I went to did I run into a situation where I didn't much like any faction I was dealing with.

The one thing that I really liked in Fallout 4 was that the weapon crafting allowed you to basically transform some weapons, I think that's a pretty cool idea and could potentially lead to the best crafting system. For example, if you have this little hunting rifle with a cut off stock, you can put a long barrel, full stock, and a scope on it and now it is a sniper rifle. The Metro series sort of did this too, but only really with the revolver as far as I know/recall, because you could put a stock, scope and long barrel on it to basically turn your pistol into a sniper. I don't know what the tinkering stuff in this game is like, but I'd definitely feel more inclined to buy it if it dabbled in what I was talking about above. I just think it's badass to use some creative thinking and technical ingenuity to transform whatever gun you've got into a makeshift one you'd rather have, like the revolver into a sniper I mentioned earlier.

Took me a while to realize too, but the sniper-rifle's DPS is like, a third of the LMG. Even pinging headshots, you're only doing like 80 damage a pop. Maybe 120 with VATS Bodyshots with the LMG are doing like 65+ and come out a hell of a lot faster. I pretty much abandoned my hunting rifle after that.

@Boring Name Really? I remember snipers in Far Cry reliably oneshotting people? Still, I got my hands on a decent Sniper Rifle later on, and that was ok. I think it's just the hunting rifle, with it's tortuously slow rate of fire.

The sniper does as much damage as the LMG, but the LMG's damage is only slighter higher than the assault-rifle, and it's fairly fitting for it's weapon-type. It's the snipers that need to be stronger. A headshot sneak-attack from a sniper rifle should be an instant-kill on a normal enemy, so by rough estimation their damage needs at least doubling. Maybe the hunting rifle is just supposed to be the equvilent of the Varmint Rifle, so it's damage quickly falling off is intended? What ammo type does the hunting rifle use? if it's light, that might explain it.

@@iamnuff1992 it's an instant kill on enemies with no helmet or ones whose armor you overwhelm with your sniper DPS. Just like an RPG should have. Unfortunately the LMG is accurate enough that you can get headshots with it too with no points in guns so it comes back to the same thing, higher DPS

Three hours in, does Pat ever learn where Pre-sliced Bred comes from? It's legit one of my favorite incidental details in any piece of media. I fucking shouted and made my wife come and look, she got a kick out of it too. Also you gotta love "crazy guy" Ludwig Miller just straight up being totally, 100% right about the robots. Dude just describes how Spacer's Choice purposefully programs the robots at the geothermal plant to murder and replace the workers, fucking up the plant and resulting in the loss of power that is causing the shortages that Reed is fighting. Honestly, the only correct choice in this colony is to take whatever action frees the people from the insane incompetence of Spacer's Choice. As they have shown an absurd and callous disregard for the welfare of their colonists.

Pat, rifles (at least your rifle) use Long Gun skill, not Heavy Weapons. They just consume Heavy Ammo (as opposed to Light Ammo).

And a year later I find out the publisher is a part of take-two which just had stakes in the company bought by Saudi Arabia. Take-two is so greedy that they have the gall to say the world is ready for $70 games and accept money from a country known for human rights abuses and admitting to brutally murdering an American journalist.
