wow - my best friend (he died shortly after this jam) - Ummm... he just came to my mind - loved him so much. We shared a band - Makin Magic was the bomb for us. Vegas man! - And tonight I thought of him and we bought on TAPE and listened to it on my alpine in the car on the way home. He died shortly a week or so - Thanks man - this stuff is totally rare indeed. I saw Pat Live - sure did. Right after this - Wow -

Right on, friend! Mars was THE MAN, and I'm willing to bet he could still blow the lug nuts off most of today's bassists!

PT was definitely one of my guitar heroes-amazing how he nails all the rhythm parts while he's singing. Not easy! And those hip R&B-inflected arrangements, and the feeling he gets when he plays!

Thanks for the post. Pat could certainly rock the house back in those days. However, the band became much better with the additions of Tommy Alldridge on drums and Pat Thrall on backup guitar. I highly recomend their live album Go For What You Know.

I liked Jerry better than pat thrall, but they were both incredible. Tommy has been my one of my favorites since BOA. Pat played with some greats, thru out his career. He told me once, he would die before he hit 40. He almost did!

Like so many of "these type" of tv to video, the quality isn't great but it proves one thing for sure... Pat was and is the real deal. One of my favorite PT tunes, and he just RIPS it APART!

I would have exploded from within if I had seen this video in 1980 when I first discovered Pat.

vocals sound great ... nice mix. I saw PT open for Dickie Betts at Winterland and Day on The Green Oakland; AC/DC, VanHalen, PT, and a couple of headliners like Foreigner. Bon Scott, first time VanHalen experience (first album) all from the balcony behind the stage.

I've got a really good recording of this on an old BBC CD.
@BloozeRockJunky16 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the PT BBC live CD is still available and features live material from 1977 and 1980. It would be great if the BBC Sights & Sounds TV show featuring Travers was officially released. They released the Nazareth show from 1977, so maybe the PT program will be available in the future....

Pat Thrall wasn't in the band at this point--it's a guy named Mickey Dyche on guitar. This was recorded in the summer of 1977 and Thrall didn't join until the end of that year.

Who is playing drums? At that time (which is about when I saw him, opening for Rush) Mr. Nico McBrain, who would later join Iron Maiden. I never understood why IM needed a drummer like Nico. It was like retirement for him, but with paychecks.
