[Patched 9/4/24] Tombs of Amascut 1-Tick Splashing

This method no longer works due to the update on 9/4/2024. This video will stay up as an archival video of what was once possible.

Within Tombs of Amascut, in the Scabaras puzzle room, you are able to cast Stun (and similar lower leveled curses) on the pillars to one of the puzzles, allowing you to get 540k, assuming perfect tick usage.
You will need magic accuracy low enough to splash, and either high enough gear to tank scarabs until the Ring of Suffering can kill them, or enough attention to reset into the corner where the scarab cannot get you. A Regen Bracelet can help this as well.
An alternative requiring no Ring of Suffering or Regeneration Bracelet involves activating the pillar room while it is in the second set by solving the puzzle diagonally (kitty corner/catty corner) to the pillar room, but not solving the pillar room and bypassing it. Then, after completing the matching puzzle at the end, the pillars remain active, and are able to be splashed on without any need to worry about the scarab.

what works for me every time i do this, (3 times now, 6 hours each) make sure the pillar puzzle is atleast in the 2nd level of challenges, bordering the color match ending puzzle. doesnt matter if on the right or left door. i then finish all 3 puzzles except for the pillar puzzle, then i finish the room by completing the color match puzzle, which despawns the scarabs and still allows you to cast on the pillar. no safe spot required.

Tried this on 8/25 and the scarabs were able to get to me. Fix for this is solving the entire room while avoiding the pillar puzzle. Once you complete the room the scarabs stop spawning. So that means you can do it on any layout as well!

edit: 09/04 Has been patched, no longer provides xp edit: 09/03 Still Working Still working as of 08/27 Pillar puzzle HAS to be the in the same position as video. The other pillar puzzle areas prevent you from getting behind the pillar, which makes the scarab a lot more likely to attack. Currently splashing fire strike myself as it provides very afk 69k xp/hr for only 18k gp/hr. Casts are 1 per tick, so 6000 casts per hour. Paring it with the method to avoid the 20 minute combat timer. Start typing a message, put something heavy on spacebar, and hover cursor over a spot where an NPC occasionally will walk. Doing this makes sure you keep attacking for full 6 hours. edit: Spot isnt really afk enough actually for 6 hour sessions. The scarab will eventually see you, and will deal ~45ish damage before ring of suffering can kill it back. Regen bracelet and range tank gear wasnt enough to keep my alive longer than an hour or so.

it's actually not this simple. i've been trying it, never been here before, and the rooms are constantly different than what's shown in this very short video. for someone not familiar with TOA, this method is not possible. i have no idea how to get the set up that they got. Also when i click the pillar, i only attack it once, not continuing to auto cast. so it's either been patched, or i'm doing it wrong snd following the video doesn't help.

Yes it could theoretically, but 90% of players fall into the two extremes of afk and high intensity. Most people aren't going to want to manage the timer of alching and splashing to maintain a middle rate between 20 minutes afk and 1t cursing. This video is not a splashing guide, there's probably more ways to optimize the middle xp rates, but I'm archiving the two main uses here.

Yes, the problem to overcome with this method is the scarab. It will always spawn, whether you solve a puzzle or not. The reason we use the 2nd set of rooms for pillars is because the scarab will spawn at the start of the room, and it's not able to path and find you except after a long time, because when it's in the north spot, you can fully hide from it. When it does find you, the ring of recoil is used to kill it, and the high range defense gear gives you buffer to survive until it dies of recoil. Then, you regenerate the health back before it comes to attack you again.

@@DantesLimbo i found a way to semi AFK and not rely on the rotation of the room. Bought full justiciar, with granite shield and peg boots and obby cape. With this setup the scarab almost never hit on you because of the high ranged defence bonus. Using this method you can always semi afk. After 15 minutes eat up your health and your good to go again.

Fire Surge is 303k XP/Hr in the video, and I use it as an upper mark for xp gain, because it's the highest level commonly splashed spell, but in the video, I use Fire Wave as I don't have a surplus of wrath runes, but I do have a large stack of blood runes. Since this method works 1t at a time, to find your xp an hour, you just do 3600 (seconds in an hour) / 0.6 (seconds in a tick), which gives us 6000 casts an hour. Multiply 6k by whatever experience you get for splashing, and that's the xp an hour you will get. For curse spells, there currently isn't a weapon that will let you auto cast curses, so you do need to manually click that one. It offers a higher xp/hr mark, but at the cost of much higher click intensity, versus the 25 minute afk time you can have with the autocasting method. No, the set up I am showing is what I found to be the best set up. If you don't have ring of recoil, the scarab will eventually kill you, or you will need some way to handle the incoming damage. To make the Ring of Suffering work more effectively, I use high range defense armor to lower the ranged accuracy of the scarab, and a Regeneration Bracelet (paired with my hitpoints cape of accomplishment) to overcome the damage that would happen. The scarab also has trouble finding you with this layout, so you have a long period of time where it can't attack you, and when it does it kills itself, and after it dies you just regenerate the health. The only hard requirements are Beneath Cursed Sands, and the ability to splash a spell, if you don't splash, boulders will fall.

@@traderwiz you need to use your Fkeys that you have binded to the spellbook and then use mousekeys for clicking. you then just alternate the fkey and mousekeys. It's a little difficult, but once you get your rhythm its very simple.

@@traderwiz What I ended up doing for like 6 hours is spamming between shift (key remapping set f6 to shift) and left click twice per tick. Just get into a good cycle of shift,leftclickshiftleftclick with stun hovered over the pillar. Before you change shift to your f6 key, set the left click action of the pillar to walk here. When you get situated, you can't get hit by boulders anymore, because the manual cast action isn't altered.

Looks like it just got hot fixed within the last few hours, had 2 accounts splashing and left and re-entered on one of the accounts and it says "This device won't fuction yet". got 99 on the other account and then left and re-entered to see if it affected both accounts and it did.

It's still working. You need to have the negative magic accuracy to splash, so -64 or lower. Otherwise, you will always hit and spawn the incorrect choice boulder.

@@roanvangorp7848 The room with obelisks must be on the north side and in the second puzzle room. Only there will the safespot spawn. Even with the safespot, the scarab can eventually find you and start attacking you, you can just kill it with melee attack and it will respawn and you will have afk time again.
