Wow the more I watched the playthrough the more I could see how many mechanics are subtly interwoven in this game.... I’m actually mindblown without ever having played it. Going to have to get this for me and my fiancé... great playthrough as always you two! Sending love.

I love this. I've recently fallen in love with board games and you two are the best reference/springboard. Rosenberg will most likely be my favorite designer and your playlist has been so helpful and entertaining. TY guys!

It's weird to see you two playing a game that I had for years, but I still watched it. I loved this game so much that I bought 'Paris: La Cité de la Lumière' to add more strategy. Both are amazing games!

Great choice! Patchwork is awesome. If you haven't tried it, 7 wonders duel is IMO the best 2p game ever. It takes 20-30 minutes to play and is easy to teach.

My favorite 2 p only games...are the ones YOU play! 😭 ya’ll make everything look fun I swear hahah but I do really like the time economy you mentioned here-games where it makes me feel like “ah I should’ve done this” or “next time I need to grab that tile earlier” always increases replayability fo me!

This is our favorite 2 player light game with my wife. It's simple and quick but it's always somehow satisfying. I am at the point where I want heavier games and more and more... But we still keep coming back to this.

I've been playing Uwe Rosenberg games my whole life apparently. Somehow, some way, she doesn't remember from where, but my mother bought a copy of Klunker 20 years ago. It had German rules only, so my dad printed out a translation from BGG. When I got older, I bought Agricola, probably because I saw it was #1 ranked and was young and dumb enough to not understand what that actually meant. Ten years later it ends up being one of my favorite games anyway.
@osmoduh3 жыл бұрын
Very interesting strategy starting from the middle, I think it led to Naveen skipping one of the best pieces already at 13:30. I have always thought starting from one corner is the optimal strategy, but I will have to test something else next time we play. Thank you for reviewing a light game for a change :)

My parents have this game, when I first saw it I also just wrote it off. Being into bigger, more complex games I thought it'd be not for me, but I found it to be surprisingly good. Of course this was before I learned about certain designers and such, now I put much more value on a game depending on who designed it.

Simple rules and not a long game but I really like the strategy. Especially if you keep playing with the same opponent over and over because they are growing their strategies too. Tense enough and very fun

"This will be on the list, guaranteed" (*not guaranteed) lol My best games of this I scored 23 (with the 7x7) and 22, with 4 and 5 spaces left open (the final scores already account for the negative points of those spaces). I'm still very proud of that achievment lol, I have pictures of the board. This is a great game. It does offer everything in the right amount - the thinkyness, the play time, the fun.

FYI, the single piece you get from the track board, you dont have to place it. You can discard it from the game. (at least from Americana version of the game). But that is giving up 2 free points (-2 for each unfilled space).

This was the first polyomino game I'd ever played, and I was disappointed. Next was A Feast for Odin which, though I loved the polyomino section, I didn't like enough to keep after eight plays. Then Indian Summer, which I liked a bit more. But my favorite is Cottage Garden! It's a very slick little game.

My board game hobby started during Covid and with lockdowns here in Ireland I focused on 2 player games for me and my wife. Even now nothing really beats a glass of wine and some brain teasing puzzle, plus a small dose of competition! We have Targi, Caesar and blitzkrieg. How do you think patchwork compares? I love the agonising over decisions that comes with these games and knowing that second place means last place 😂

Speaking of designer series of games... I'd like to see one on the "T" series: Tzolkin, Teotihuacan, Trismegistus, Tekhenu, and Tawantinsuyu - all designed by Tascini and/or Turczi.

I've heard that Uwe likes putting Christian iconography in his game, the cross being free in Patchwork is a good example. Is it a boardgaming-myth or is there some truth to it?
@ShelfOfOpportunity3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t noticed this, having played most of his games. In a polyomino game, the cross shape tends to be difficult, so the low cost helps to balance it.
