Hi Alanda, I wanted to share with you; Before my husband's aunt passed away she gave me unfinished quilt pieces. I wasn't sure what to do with them, and your video helped😀. I'm giving pillows to her children made out of the quilt pieces 😊. Hope they like them😀. Thanks again for your help 💓

Thanks for this video plus others including the Easter bag. I have just spent a gruelling two days trying to master a BoHo bag to no avail. The rough pattern is the same as the Easter bag you have shown but the instructions far simpler yet the result pretty much the same. I am a fairly new sewer and I need simple at this time and I think your tutorials are a lot better and easy to follow than others I have been looking at. You have reeled me in and I'm hooked, keep em coming please!

@alandacraft

I use the default machine settings for my sewing and quilting projects. Unless I am working with a fine, silky or thick fabric I don't change my machine setting. I find the default machine settings work well for most sewing.

Thank you! I am planning to do exactly this with my deceased brother's old shirts for all the family. I'm fairly new to this and I dont want to mess them up.l Can I ask is there a benefit to the batting? Some of the shirts are well worn and I was trying to get a sturdy back on the patches.
@alandacraft
@alandacraft 4 ай бұрын
What a lovely idea Maria. T-shirt material does need a stabiliser added to it to stop it stretching and making it easier to sew. There are a number of varieties available on Amazon. The batting just adds a bit of softness to the cushion cover.

I have a question. I understand the back envelope piece is the traditional 3rd piece of the quilt sandwich here....but the way it is sewn last, what keeps the batting from crumbling down after repeated washes if it isn't sewn between two layers? So you see the batting when you open the envelope to insert the cushion? Seems like it is missing a layer.
@alandacraft
@alandacraft 5 жыл бұрын
If you don't wish to see the backing you could cut a piece of fabric and attach it to the front piece and quilt or ditch stitch it in place. This would hold the batting in place and also cover it.

I just lay the fabric out and go with what appeals to me at the time. Your fabrics sound as though they will go together nicely. And do you know what, there are times when I have put some really ugly pieces together and they look fine once they are sewn up. I have come to the conclusion that there is something about sewing bits of fabric together that changes their look. And believe me your mother will love it no matter what 😊. And if not it's something you can both laugh about.
