Totally agree on the gateway game. Bought it for my mother in law, who never plays board games but really loves to quilt. And she loved the game and played it a few times again, although this is a really strategic game.

This is my favourite 2 player "soft" game ever! I think that the smarter thing that make this game so cool is the MIX between different sensorial experiences TACTILE 3D PUZZLE (both side of pieces is avalible), soft RESOURCE MANAGEMENT and a little bit of STRATEGY and tactical decision. And flip continiously between this kind of games and has never the time to get boring. Every time we want to play 3 or 4 sessions in a row!

i see this best on a board with 2 cups of cinnamon hot chocolate, a very carefree experience where dont' matter who wins. i love it

+Giovanni Colombi (Gallinello) It is a cutthroat game though. Cottage Garden on the othet hand, is definitely the more carebear version.

I am trying so hard to like this game, and convince myself to buy it, but just cannot get past this theme and the look of it. It's almost like it won a contest for 'least appealing theme' ever. I mean, Rosenberg is already drier than dry, but he outdid himself here. Who is this for? Grandmothers? Sewing fanatics? Cats? Would love a retheme, but I doubt it will ever happen. Sure, it's abstract, but look at it! There are buttons and quilts all over it. I can smell musty, old, ugly, torn blankets with bedbugs just looking at the cover. Who has fond memories, or any memories at all, of something as ridiculous as a quilt? I'd rather see a '1970's leisure suit' version of this. Bravo to all who can see past the visuals and the theme.

shatnershairpiece I believe rahdo just did a run through for Indian Summer. Which if I'm not mistaken is by the same creator. It has a similar "Tetris" laying tile system. Check out that video if you haven't. That theme may be more up your alley, while keeping some of the same game mechanics.

I find the concept of comparing quilt themed games hilarious :D

I don't really like the scoring system of minus points for empty spaces. I would prefer to count all the filled spaces and score 2 points for each +buttons. I'm fine either way, but new players getting a negative final score might turn them off to it. I realize that it takes longer to count filled spaces, but many people feel down about negative points.

+Matthew White You could always start with 162 points (or a neater number like 150) and deduct empty spaces from that.

Or even start with 100. Good idea!

+Matthew White I agree. Everything about this game feels way too smart but such a weird point system.

I agree! I love the game but the point systeme leading to so low scoring, or even negative scoring, is a downer to me. So I like the idea of counting just the filled spaces and the button pretty much!!!! And how about adding an additional bonus tile of 4 points for the first person filling a 5x5 space?

My highest score is full quilt. 55 points.

rahdo, how do you think Patchwork compares to Blokus Duo or other spatial games?
@rahdo10 жыл бұрын
Leon Powalski well, i've never played them (or really very many spacial games, as my wife generally has a hard time with them) so i couldn't say.
