Just watched this. Its like landing on an aircraft carrier! Love the structure they've had to build for approach lighting!

that's a good way to describe it.

I flew in and out of there once for a job interview at WVU-the guy who checked me in for the flight was also the guy who refueled the airplane. There were only 6 people on our flight in a small commercial but yet the steward used the microphone for safety instruction when in actuality we were less than 6 ft from her. She told us to space out. It was a cloudy foggy day. I was a nervous wreck.

You should see the C-5 or the C-17's taking off and landing there. That is my local airport and love that place. Learning to fly there now.

First time I heard and saw a C-5 coming in over South Hills, hanging in the air and screaming... well I haven't been the same since.

Great video of my home state airport. Too bad the ending cut short. The feeling of falling off the other side is hilarious for newcomers!

I've only been there once but,, it was a very cool airport to fly into.

What an incredible, beautiful airport/runway!... A few C130's watching your arrival...:)

Yes Capt, I was number 100 to like, but your videos are always entertaining and helpful. I don't fly for real anymore, but i'm a flt sim enthusiast, and use your vids for visual reference. I flew into Sedona yesterday and compared it to your real life scenario. The sim (P3Dv3) was very realistic......... Keep em coming Capt....... Good Job.

+John Paul Brotherton Thanks John. That's interesting the comparison. It's incredible how far home flight sims have come.

Are you ready for Flight Sim 2020? What set up do you have now? I, too, haven't flown for several years and I want to get into simming. What is the latest / greatest sim to get while I wait on FS2020?

thanks. I think the weather makes them a lot more interesting.

back in the 70's we used to take our 4-wheel trucks on trails that would put you on the hillside facing the runway so that aircraft on approach would suddenly appear just over our heads at what seemed like treetop level and then we'd watch 'em land. Of course we always had a couple cases of beer and other supplies. REALLY fun with a fall of snow on the ground. Im sure you couldnt get away with that these days

They moved more dirt to build that airport than they did to build the Panama Canal. That’s a fact.

Post a vid? I landed at Santa Catalina Island once. That was quite the adventure. The runway is a trick on the eyes and more than one high performance aircraft pilot has found themselves going over the end of the runway/mountain.

There is a pucker factor when you land at Yeager airport for the first time.

stewart baker Thanks Stewart. Wish I had an answer for you. I get a hold maybe once every two years. So the chances of having my camera on when that happens are very slim.
