I know a woman who married a younger man who didn’t have children, and even though her own children were grown and out of the house, she had her tubes untied because he said he really wanted a baby. I think the way they got together (in the hotel) is ultimately the reason he can't bring himself to respect or trust her. She didn't deny that comment he made about her showing up in his bed wearing her birthday suit, so I'm going to say he's upset about potentially getting her pregnant more than anything because he clearly doesn't take her seriously. For someone he married, he spoke about her as if she is a currently a one night stand, sad. The very beginning made me feel sick for her how he demeaned her job as a "hotel maid" and basically called her loose in front of everyone. But you married her.....

But let's say (hypothetically) that I, as the wife, and his mother needed the exact same thing at the exact same time. His priority would be to help me first and THEN help his mom. Even though my relationship is strained with my MIL, I have never and will never be the person to get in between mother and son. Just because a spouse takes precedence does not in any way mean the family should be ignored. I, for one, wouldn't allow that to happen. But that's just me.
