Felt is the key word here. Sometimes we expect life to bow to our every need. When it doesn't happen we have feelings. By a certain age though we realize our problems have little to do with our Moms. My Mom used to take off bowling every Friday night leaving me at home with my much older siblings. My Mom went out on dates. My Mom never baked a cake on my birthday and gifts were seldom due to poverty. She never got involved with my schooling. She didn't know who my friends were. Still, I would have never treated my Mom like that.

Exactly. The mom stayed with the same story throughout. It feels like her daughter has deep-seated hatred towards her mother and just wanted to air her out. Of course if the father of your child dies you're going to want to file for Social Security, there is nothing wrong with that. Where I would fault the mother is trying to hide the fact that she was his daughter and putting her husband's name on the birth certificate instead of just leaving it blank.

Despite the fact that she didn't know the truth about her father, her mother raised her decently and that's more than most people can say. It seems like the daughter is using her mother's mistakes to live a "woe is me" life and avoid some personal responsibility. But let's watch. Edit: I take that back, the mother is all over the place and everyone sees right through it. She can't even tell a cohesive story.

I'm not convinced that the mother is lying. She just happens to be outnumbered, it is evident she made attempts to connect with these ppl. Thanksgiving and any other visits would have been coordinated by the mother. I think mom has had a rough go and she falls under the guilt of her past mistakes too easily. The daughter had the nerve to say "you were the reason you fought so much (w/ the dad) " how would she know

@@AshaGlenn that is common in this show, illogical if you are certain of your child's paternity but these women add the names of men who "show up" however briefly they're present (it's emotional). The story isn't complete here, I think mom has a history of abusive relationships and she is loopy but I'm not convinced this man & his family were as invested in this child as they're presenting.

@Kitten Lyric Thank you. Every time the mother spoke she was talked over. Of course she was all over the place; she was trying to fit so much in a few seconds because no one would let her speak. I was so annoyed when the judge yelled at her that she didn't want to hear her because she hadn't heard her at all at that point. Even if the judge wanted to hear what the grandparents thought the mother's motivation was, she could have also let the mother state what her actual motivation was. Based on what little I could make out of what the mother tried to say, I have a feeling the mother had a lot to say that the daughter needed to listen to for accurate closure.

To be fair, you know NOTHING of how SHE was treated by her MOTHER..... never walked in HER shoes so you DON'T KNOW how YOU WOULD react. My Mother was horribly abused by my GrandMa, like underfed, face wiped in her own diapers, not watching her and my Mother STILL loved my GrandMa until the end. I always loved her as well but when I learned of that it wasn't really the same love that I HAD HAD..... I personally would have NEVER spoke to my Mother again if she would have done that to me. Isn't Autumn an adult? Why is she still blaming her mother for everything? If she wants to know, she should go get her own DNA test. Her mom isn't stopping her from anything.

Imo, whenever a parent says to their child “it wasn’t my fault,” they really need to think about what they’re responsible for when bringing children into the world and raising them. Kids deserve to be secure and stable, emotionally, physically, in the family and home environment, through educational resources, and financially. If a parent can’t provide all of those basics to the children their raising, it is their fault.

You make it sound like you don't think poor people should have children considering money is on your list.

@@ashleypatten849 There is a difference between being poor and not being able to provide for yourself much less another person. If the parent or parents are insecure in some vital area, perhaps they should figure out how to create a stable foundation before bringing children into the world. People entirely control when they have children - pregnant isn’t airborne.
