Felt is the key word here. Sometimes we expect life to bow to our every need. When it doesn't happen we have feelings. By a certain age though we realize our problems have little to do with our Moms. My Mom used to take off bowling every Friday night leaving me at home with my much older siblings. My Mom went out on dates. My Mom never baked a cake on my birthday and gifts were seldom due to poverty. She never got involved with my schooling. She didn't know who my friends were. Exactly. The mom stayed with the same story throughout. It feels like her daughter has deep-seated hatred towards her mother and just wanted to air her out. Of course if the father of your child dies you're going to want to file for Social Security, there is nothing wrong with that. Where I would fault the mother is trying to hide the fact that she was his daughter and putting her husband's name on the birth certificate instead of just leaving it blank.

@Kitten Lyric Thank you. Every time the mother spoke she was talked over. Of course she was all over the place; she was trying to fit so much in a few seconds because no one would let her speak. I was so annoyed when the judge yelled at her that she didn't want to hear her because she hadn't heard her at all at that point. Even if the judge wanted to hear what the grandparents thought the mother's motivation was, she could have also let the mother state what her actual motivation was. Based on what little I could make out of what the mother tried to say, I have a feeling the mother had a lot to say that the daughter needed to listen to for accurate closure.

To be fair, you know NOTHING of how SHE was treated by her MOTHER..... never walked in HER shoes so you DON'T KNOW how YOU WOULD react. My Mother was horribly abused by my GrandMa, like underfed, face wiped in her own diapers, not watching her and my Mother STILL loved my GrandMa until the end. I always loved her as well but when I learned of that it wasn't really the same love that I HAD HAD..... I personally would have NEVER spoke to my Mother again if she would have done that to me. (Thankfully my Mother did NOT repeat the abusive cycle) So, I mean, you just CANT SAY how SOMEONE ELSE should react to a situation. You don't know the FULL STORY of their relationship! Imo, whenever a parent says to their child “it wasn’t my fault,” they really need to think about what they’re responsible for when bringing children into the world and raising them. Kids deserve to be secure and stable, emotionally, physically, in the family and home environment, through educational resources, and financially. If a parent can’t provide all of those basics to the children their raising, it is their fault.

@@ashleypatten849 There is a difference between being poor and not being able to provide for yourself much less another person. If the parent or parents are insecure in some vital area, perhaps they should figure out how to create a stable foundation before bringing children into the world. People entirely control when they have children - pregnant isn’t airborne.
