I remember many times marveling at those old abandoned mansions on Hamilton Ave. I believe the last one came down sometime around the end of the 80's..

I was born and raised at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson in 1976. Haven’t been there in a couple of decades but it’s still in my heart.

I remember the man on the tightrope. I also remember that Gerald Ford came to the Falls when it became a landmark. I was five.

Yes. I was actually there the day President Ford spoke. I think they were dedicating the falls as a National Historical Park.

Nativo and Acevado.. their sons both became Paterson cops. If you lived in the south it wasn't that bad near Duffy's. Hillcrest, Stoney Road and Lakeview all decent places but now... it's a crap shoot. I remember Graves... always making budget cuts. The day he died his caretaker couldn't get an ambulance fast enough and the reason was because his cuts put a closer ambulance out of service. Such tongue and cheek talk from the elderly woman.

Racism alive and well even back then

In all groups. Wish one group was immune to racism, then we could follow their example. Come to think of it, there’s no racism in Paterson today. Glad the old days are gone.
