PATERSON, NJ: "Palestine Way" and Beyond in "Little Ramallah" & "Little Istanbul"

South Paterson is a neighborhood in Paterson, New Jersey. It is home to Little Istanbul, the largest Turkish American enclave, and Little Ramallah, the largest Palestinian American enclave in the country. With a population of over 25,000 it also boasts the second-largest Arab-American community in the country right after Dearborn, Michigan. The Arab community has been present since the late 19th century, with many Lebanese and Syrian immigrants moving in. While immigration from Lebanon has slowed, many second, third, and fourth-generation residents remain. Recently, Palestinian immigrants have settled in the neighborhood, adding to the mix of Arabs.
The area is well known around NJ for having the many of the best, most authentic Middle Eastern restaurants, grocery stores, and shops, with Main Street having the largest concentration. (www.patersonnj...)
