Terminus Est, especially now that Starforge got gutted. High crit, decent enough pDPS, movespeed, free frenzy charges during boss fights, mana sustain. An Impale Cyclone Champion with decent gear and this weapon can clear everything

Yeah that's always the problem with good unique helmets. I've had the same issue with Hale Negator which is a personal favorite of mine. Though it was a little beyond the scope of this video as it requires a lot of building around.

Malachai's artafice unset ring. This item can make a shapers elemental resistance 0. That makes this item almost as strong as a whole ascendancy (rip inqui). Sure it is kind of clunky (tbh uber duber super luper clunky) but at a starter char it just is such a big dmg increase.

I like the Three Dragons for making shock freeze instead. That was a really cool mechanic back when archmage stormbrand was a thing. This could even freeze many map bosses in place. But i guess it also helps any other shock build, especially for delving, to get rid of bodies, or just for an extra layer of defense.

The problem with having uniques while leveling, is that I find myself dependent on them in the late-game, or the unique properties are difficult to replace. Was using a Soul Taker axe for far too long.

I honestly wouldn't say Soul Taker is a leveling unique because it's got a L59 requirement so similar to the Atziri's Step I featured (req L69) it's designed for the endgame. Soul Taker was once the best axe in PoE and as important for dual wield builds as savior is now. But history aside, I think the best way to do it is think about "is the power I'm losing, worth it for the mechanic?" So in the case of Soul Taker, is it worth losing the dps? Or should you use a -15 Mana Cost chest? or should you get Mana Leech? Or is Blood Magic/Mortal Conviction/Supreme Ego worth taking on your build? Alternatively, you can look at other people playing your build, and not using Soul Taker and seeing what creative solution they find and take inspiration from that.

@@Tenkiei a well-worded reply. You're right... I was thinking of Soul Taker as a leveling item to help through early mapping. In the end I was able to unveil the Elreon reduced mana cost on rings/amulet, then found out that slamming with an influence removes the catalyst! Completely negates the reason to quality your items before crafting.

@@Tenkiei sure the catalysts will be effective on the slam roll, but when I don't care about the slam initially on my Elreon ring with mana catalyst... boy it was frustrating having my main skill with 1 mana cost and only 4 catalysts left. What is negated is the bonus for using catalysts PRIOR to crafting, so it would only cost me 4 to quality. If this is removed through any sort of crafting, why waste them (other than the aforementioned bonus to the luck roll)?

I might be alone in saying this, but my favorite leveling unique is a crest of perandus. You get a lot of life regen, lots of block and works for just about any build early on. It has movement speed also which is really hard to combine with when you are trying to find decent gear.

I agree with pretty much everything except: Belt of the deciever: No, just no. It's a leveling belt. Embalmer: Maybe, until you get good Hunter influenced gloves. Crystal Vault: I don't think you should ever use this since lightning coil exists. Incandescent Heart: If you use CI or divine flesh it's very good. Otherwise no. Explosions: They're not very good compared to inpulsa or crusader chest. Because they can't chain.

Crystal Vault is better than Lightning Coil. Also, Great Old ones impale can't chain, but the damage is often *much* higher, and melee skills often have enough coverage that you don't need chaining anyway.

I personally like Ambu's Charge. It's underestimated, but grants a lot of survivability early on. Getting endurance charges and 2% life regen is a nice defensive layer in addition to what's already a good baseline chest.

Worldcarver. This damn gloves carried me through T16. Decent life, the moar mods your map have, the moar dmg and aspd you get. Also gives Arcane Wake that boosts your speed a ton. Downside, no ele res.

The Devouring Diadem is my favorite unique. I know it isnt exactly unpopular, but imo still underused. 20% less reservation and a cwdt desecrate fixing all of your sustain problems is plenty to consider playing eldritch battery.

I use Belt of Deceiver on almost all melee builds - it’s great, and never understood why it was so undervalued. Darkness enthroned was my go to very early in this league for my Holy Relic Guardian and never removed it, now at level 94. Esp with harvest crafting I can put just the right jewels in it so get a boatload of life (2x 30 flat life ends up at 105 - we are talking elder level, then add 6 more affixes and my resistances are solved (huge help for chaos) and one jewel adds a chunk of minion damage. And apart from the jewels I spent 1co total (for the deceiver, as you say the DE dropped in one of my first abyssal depths ) Very good calls here!

I followed a guide quite closely this league (unusual for me) but even so have made many exceptions which AFAIK seem to have improved the character, or at least I enjoy more (the real result. My character may suck - most do! - but am I having fun? :-) Also things change sometimes rapidly over time so a guide made before league start has to be viewed as advice not prescription. Frankly this is what makes POE so great - forces you to think for yourself. One reason why a video like this is so cool, draws attention to solutions you may not have thought of, especially f you are new. 3 years into this game and I still feel I know

I can often be hesitant to make a guide for one of my builds (my Penance Brand Assassin comes to mind) for fear of people taking some parts too literally, or not adapting stuff. Also like you say, if it's made before the start of the league, a lot can change and influence that. This is why I think Enki's guide is so amazing because league after league he puts in the work before and after league start to make sure it's up to date and accurate.

Dinged 100 as my very first SSF HC Cyclone Raider in Delirium with Bloodseeker! seriously underrated unique. It frees up space for a nice elder based shield with max life and %max life and res I was also using Belt of the deceiver and Kaoms Roots, stables for me in HC. In delirium it kept my 8.6k hp raiders hp up even during crazy red map deliriums! Even if i took a Chucky hit i was at 100% in an instant. The Tree has alot of damage boost to claw with low investments. While still being able to pick up every single inc life and other defensive notes! Really fun and cheap build!

Oskarms(Not sure how they'll be after assassins mark nerf), Profane Proxy - Phenomenal entry level stuff, Spell slinger with no flat fire dmg to spells using a Malachai's Artifice -50% boss res for one slot. Ahn's might (maybe not after dual wield nerfs, terminus est does better.)... That's all I can think of right now :)

Malachai's Artifice is a great single target dps booster for single element builds that can't afford to use EE. Just socket an Orb of Storms gem (or whatever suits the playstyle of your build. Vortex, Storm Brand, Vaal Lightning Strike or Tempest Shield are some good ideas) and use it once to apply 5s of -50 res. The only downside is that it provides no health whatsoever. But in some builds, it can give you more damage than a multiple ex ring.

Personally I always find it easy to scale damage these days, and a lot harder to scale health or defenses so I'm not a big fan of Malachai's Artifice.

@@Tenkiei While I agree, having a lot of damage in your ring slot allows you to get a defensive chest or helmet, which are slots that I feel have better defensive options than rings (both in rare affixes and in uniques). As always, it's a matter of give and take.

Also remember essence mods such as 10% of phys as extra fire, or influence mods like crit multi on rings are quite respectable for damage as well. So you can use a ring that isn't purely defensive if you use a rare. (Which is more an argument for rare rings > unique rings than something specific to Malachai's).

Razor of the Seventh Sun is dirt cheap after the first week of most leagues and can carry you through EVERYTHING until you upgrade to some absurd multiple ex crafted foil monstrosity. And for caster (non poison) chaos DoT builds, allelopathy is an absolute house. psuedo 6 link blight (it's level 22 so there's a built in empower effect) like embalmer or rime gaze, very valuable stats, very obtainable.

I think Breathstealer also kind of fall into that category. A bit more expensive at league start but the price drops quick. Getting many auras at the same time (including monster modifier auras) can feel extremely fun and powerfull. And you also should not forget that you can anoint those gloves, so a second anoint is also great.

Yeah they're solid. I think the main reason they're not used more is just that you have to stand in a relatively small area to keep the buffs. But this makes them excellent in delve.

I would HIGHLY suggest the Militant faith in the name of Maxarius. It was the cheapest timeless jewel last league, running me a whopping 6c, and the defense Transcendence gives is unbelievable. It takes some building around but as a chieftain with perma immortal call and 22k armor (a fairly easy amount to get) I was able to facetank everything but shaper balls with 5k life. Even Sirus' big beam and tri-ele boosted legions never got me below 1/3 life. It's probably one of the cheapest, most under rated defenses in the game

I think you are giving a little too much credit here to transcendence and too little to the perma immortal call and chief recovery. Because for example Sirus's beam has around a 25% chance to deal physical damage which would ignore your armor, and 22k armor won't actually do a lot against hits that are large enough to kill you through immortal call. Remember there is a very large and very real cost to transcendence in that you give up physical mitigation which is much harder to get than elemental mitigation, and physical spells, or DoT effects while both fairly rare in PoE are the things that most often kill someone.

@@Tenkiei Even without immortal call proccing the endurance charges are going to cover big hits more than armor, which are easy to get. The real power in the node is that damage is reduced AFTER ele resists, unlike armor and phys damage reduction. Further, elemental damage becomes much more dangerous than phys once you get "enemies deal added X" because it scales off the phys and then some So where 22k armor for phys reduction on a say, 7k raw hit wont do almost anything, because armor applies BEFORE "additional physical damage reduction, it would be massive on a 7k hit that is first reduced by 71% all res. That hit would be reduced to 2k before armor applies. This is made even better if multiple elements are in that same hit. Say an enemy has 100% increased damage as cold and fire in that same 7k hit. Each one is 3.5k for easier math. Each damage portion is now 1k, each of which has to pierce armor. Trust me I tried to use 90% chaos res divine flesh on the same character and didn't get the same level of defense. The difference is hundreds of chaos vs 6. Transcendence is criminally under rated for what it gives to left side tree builds.

literally anything. you can just play the usual (alteration + rare resist ring + magic wand) vendor recipe wand till like red maps. by then you should easily be able to afford your tremor rod or a better rare wand. if you re talking about uniques... prism guardian to go low life. mines really dont have good unique weapons. and if there were any they would be a waste of money because you scale your damage from the tree so much that any investment in damage isnt needed

Off hand wise you can use a second wand, but if you want a shield a couple uniques come to mind, Saffel's Frame comes to mind for max resistances and spell block, or Prism Guardian like Seth mentioned (often semi-expensive) to enable you to go Low Life more easily.

I blame thread of hope for that one. You can Thread phase acro and still use a different chest. But you do lose out on the arctic armor so I think Perfect Form is still a good choice especially early league.

honestly its a shame how undervalued darkness enthroned is, people are really sleeping on its buff, even in harvest league where 4 t1/2 jewels were easy to make, even with the popularity of spectre necro it never really got the attention it deserved, its best in slot for that build by far, it gives similar life, better qol (through jewel implicits) and WAY better damage than a perfect stygian, all you need is to alt spam 20% damage if youve used a minion skill recently, and harvest craft t1 life+double res and boom youve beaten a perfect stygian for that build

Yep it's super strong, and in harvest it offered some really cool stuff because you could scale implicits up. (I'm hoping we get jewels with implicits from Heist to continue this!) I ended up using it on my chief and I have 0 regrets. What I really want to do is combine Shroud of the Lightless (Replica) with Hale Negator, and Darkness Enthroned to bring back that old "bow build, but it's really an abyss build" feel at some point next league.

I'm pretty confident that there won't be major changes to these items in the patch notes. Most haven't been changed in years and none of them are problematic or broken. There might be changes to some of the items I mentioned in passing like Bear's Girdle but those aren't the focus of my video.
