Hey Pohx, firstly thanks for making this informative video! I'm new to the game and I hope this message reaches you as I have a couple of questions: How much currency should I spend on the maps themselves before I run them (Like should I always spend 4 chisels and 1 alc?)? Also, what maps should I be selling and what maps should I be running ( I really like Shaped Dunes and Strand so thats what I run currently)? When running the maps, what items do you think are valuable to pick up and is the Chaos/Regal recipe worth it?

Let's talk red maps and up. Glad you liked the video! Red Maps: 4x Chisel for 20% Quality, Alch & Scour Till you get packsize. As long as your build can do most map mods you shouldn't be spending too much currency. As for what to pickup, always grab currency and figure out what people are playing in the current leage, Meta items will always sell. Regal/Chaos isn't really worth it when you think of being super efficient. However, very few people just log in Map 6 hours and log off so in essence Regal recipe isn't too bad Edit: Sell whatever maps you don't want or won't run. Keep good layout maps for your alts

hey man great video, i was really just walking in the dark before this, a little question, how much atlas completion should you have before running shaped shore/shaped strand? i'm at 70% bonus but i can't really build a map pool, usually when i run one of those map they drop max 1 map, and sometimes they don't so i'm not able to keep up my map pool and i constantly find myself in the need to buy more strand/shore

So with this set up correctly, the only map that can drop is the shaped map you are currently running, and you focus all your sextants on that map as the other video shows. So you get to constantly run a shaped T12 map with 7 sextants on it or whatever. As a result, you make tons of currency enough to buy whatever high T15 maps you want

I guess I now understand how the mechanics work. What I don't understand however is why a shaped map that is now T12 is "better" than a (not shaped) "normal" T12. Yes, I can restrict my drops to a "good" T12 like that, but what if other not shaped T12 are also good maps?

The maps he showcases, particularly Strand are some of the best layouts in the game for clearspeed meta, if I remember correctly. No one's saying Estuary, for example, is a turd but in comparison to a shaped Mud Geyser which has a good breach count, it's kinda bad.

Also, as he is saying at 5:00 - If you have unlocked t12 map, then if system chose to drop a t13 map for you, then all t13 maps that alligh with that t12 will also contest for that place. Meaning that even if you like that tier12 map, t11 and t13 maps that this action will unlock may be not so good.

I'm a bit confused at your explaination at 4:55 If you have by your example necropolis unlocked, does that mean you can always get the bad maps that are linked to necropolis? Or can you only get those bad map drops if you are actually playing in the necropolis map?

idk the extra map level from completing the atlas is pretty crazy, i can easily sustain pure tier 14+ maps with it completed, sure some of the maps aren't ideal but you can just sell anything you REALLY hate. This method is probably superior for XP but for currency I don't see how it could beat unlimited tier 14+ by completing the atlas, especially once you factor in the huge respec cost if you didnt start it like this from the beginning of the league

Maps are dirt cheap in the league right now, shaped maps being a bit more expensive. This method is designed to be able to play the game the way you want. I'm not trying to advertise that my way is better at all

I have a question please. Does this process of erasing the maps come after you exposed all the maps normally, got the shaped orbs and possibly killed the shaper? So you do this first and then you erase your top tier maps and shape the atlas to define your runs for gear and currency?

Great video! I still need something clarified. How do you progress with this setup? I have just started doing red maps and from what I understand at any given point you will have a shaped tier N, and a progress N+1, map completed. Right now, I have Shaped Strand (t11) and Estuary(t12). So after I get the Shaper's orb from Estuary I will have 2 shaped maps (t11 and t12) completed, I will uncomplete Estuary and move on to the t13 map that Estuary leads to (Beacon?), repeating this until tier 16. Is that a fair strategy for reaching one guardian? Rephrasing the question. How do I use the strategy in this video for progressing towards Guardians and Shaper?

So how to get corrupted 6-Links from maps with sextants guys, like Pohx in the video? Is it really correct strategy? I mean other people pointed out that difference between 80 and 110 bonus is tremendous, specially when it's rolled on single entiry - Map Boss. You will get more higher tier maps and more currencie for selling extra maps. Also I think unlocking all T15-16 won't hurt as they all expensive.

Unlocking T14 to 16 is a good thing if only because you can sell them off. Similarly, if you restrict your Atlas to only have an in-demand 13 like Gorge for example, and only do shaped Strands, Mud Geysers and other T11-T12 ones, you can then just sell off the 13+ ones for profit since it literally doesn't matter.

But Cells has 4 arms and Ashen Wood only has 2 arms... So Cells can drop 4 adjacent maps while Ashen Wood only drops 2 adjacent ones? Also, the other day I got a T7 Cells drop from a T12 Vault... I have 123/126 completion... Cells and Vault are so far apart... and their tiers are far apart too..

Buenomars That's all correct. Some maps have more adjacent maps than others. Once you have unlocked a map, it can drop from anywhere, not just an adjacent map.

But T7 and T12 are many Tiers apart... People say complete all unique T1 to T9 map bonuses to maximise shaped maps drops... However, based on what you told me, a completed non-adjacent T4 map can still drop from a T11 Shaped Strand map...

And another question i got is: Do i have to complete a map(kill the boss of the map) to unlock it to drop for me or if i jsut ran it but didnt even killed the boss? Buy the cheapest shaped maps of the tier, run them till you build a base of your own. I think the goal would be to run the maps and not kill the boss, to be honest I forgot a bit because I bought 20 shaped Ashen woods to start and built a base off that. As long as you don't kill the boss it shouldn't show up on your atlas ( I think? )

So i have been playing end game for a few weeks now, just trying to get the map completed, i have all tier 1 - 14 all done with bonuses, havent seen shaper orbs yet and no purple rings around my maps, i have faced shaper when he randomly shows up a bunch of times, maybe i havent picked them up? Also since i am well passed all tier 11-14 does that mean i should start new account because it will cost too much to respec? I am very poor in the game

considering low tier red maps are like 1c you can do that if you want. Personally what I found to be the best strategy was after shaping my Atlas I purchased 20 Shaped Ashen woods for 70c and was good ever since. If I progressed with my Atlas properly though like shown in this video I'd have no need to do that

one of the downside is the div cards restriction that u cant get in ( exept from some diviners) the maps u shaped instead of doing high tier maps whivh can give high valur cards, but still nice video and thanks i may try it next league :)

I assume you put the shaper orb in the crafting bench because you don't want it on your inventory, right? you know you can drop them on the ground and leave the map

To shape a map you need the shaper's orb which you get via completing a map, thus wouldn't you always have at least that one map competing with the shaped map in drop pool?

Nope! After you get the shapers orb you just unshape it! You'll only lose the shaper orb if you unshape the map you used the shapers orb on!

I've optimized my Atlas as you said, my only T10 map is Shaped Dunes and mob just dropped (Crypt Map) an Arsenal (T10 map), did GGG make any change to this method?

Since Arsenal is adjacent to Crypt of course it dropped. That is how the atlas progression works. Regular map drop mechanics still apply. The whole point is when you run a shaped t10 map with no other same or higher tier map unlocked is it will not drop any other t10 or higher map because the shaped map is NOT CONNECTED to those map tiers. Running ANY t9 map can and will drop the adjacent t10 as well a your shaped map.

But what about map drop level bonus of Atlas completion? You can hit 125%, which means guaranteed +1 level and 25% chance of +2 levels of map drops. Doesn't this give you a huge boost in farming?

Shaped Strats > Atlas completion There is absolutely nothing wrong with completing your atlas but what's the point when map drops are worth nothing unless they're shaped? I can sustain myself totally just fine with all my shaped maps t11-t14+

it's ideal to run only favorite maps, but in terms of sustaining map pool, and i'm talking about high tier maps ...let's say 14+, how this method will affect that?, how good and important is the atlas bonus? the difference between 80% and 120% atlas bonus is minor or huge? is it worth to spend a bunch of exalted to reshape my atlas? ....this is my main concern...if someone who did both methods can clarify this...

Pretty much. You can do pretty much all the uniques safely to maximize your Atlas bonus, and can do all your T1-6 iirc. I'm not sure about whether or not all 7's, 8's and 9's are safe to run.

It may sound odd but Yeah I would avoid unlocking gorge because shaped strands are much better when you compare the returns you get from it. That being said if you manage to shape your atlas around Gorge it might work? You would have to do a bit of work to see if it works

You messed something up because if you only have 1 T11 shaped it's the only t11 that can drop. Unless you're running T10 maps that are adjacent to T11 maps then they can drop as well

I don' think the others understood your question. I think you are asking if you are playing in a party and are running somone else's map with them, if you complete the map will it complete on your atlas as well as theirs? I am not 100% on this but I think the answer is yes. This means you will need to only party run maps that you want completed or exit the map before the boss is killed. Otherwise you will have to constantly be using cartographer's seals to uncomplete these maps.

You run it for the shapers orb, use the shapers orb then unshape the map you got the shapers orb out of. Look at my Atlas for example.

you need to run shaped maps, if you run a t10 map that's connected to another t10 or t11 you'll get those maps as well. Shaped maps are not connected to higher tier maps which means the only possible maps that can drop are the ones on your atlas

Ox afaik you havent "deleted" the other tier 11 maps. you use orb of scouring and 3 sextants (red sextants for red maps), and sell it to the vendor. he'll give you a seal, so you can "delete" map from the atlas, as long as you haven't completed it yet. that's how i understand it. if you need more info, visit cartographer's seal on poe wiki. gl

And im not even sustaining strands i q20 them, chaos untill +20 pack size, roll surrounding maps for aditional mobs with cartographers. I have 86/126 atlas unlocked, almost everything up to t10 unlocked and some maps that i enjoy from t12. Idk what im doing wrong, hell im even running those maps on 100/300 mf char...

Pick a random map. Any map. If you run that map the following can happen: ANY lower tier map can drop. ANY same tier map can drop. ANY +1 tier can drop that is connected on the atlas. ANY +2 tier can drop that you have unlocked on the atlas. If you run a shaped map AND you don't have ANY same or higher tier maps unlocked ALL of the dropped +1 and +2 maps will roll back to that shaped map because it is not connected to any same or higher tier.

You just don't explain through the whole video why you want the shaped of whatever tier and NOT any other maps of that tier. A T11 is a T11, whether it's shaped or otherwise. Till you explain why it would in any way be detrimental to run all non-shaped maps, this whole strategy is just a matter of exercise into manipulating the game's mechanics. It gives you no edge. It defeats the purpose of playing the game at that point because you're not unlocking all of the atlas for completion, getting challenges done, and playing the game itself, you're just grinding out one small result of GGG's failure of game design. It's no different than purposefully running the twilight strand nonstop endlessly and never going past it to play any of the rest of the game. There's no advantage.
