GGG has a few employees who were recruited from the community too. Viperesque was a player, Octavion was a streamer, and Neon(Mark R) was a player and is now one of the game directors on PoE2.

PoE was originally going to be this way as a completely classless system, but they felt the game needed something that established what archetypes were available even if it was just different start points in the same tree. That was of course before ascendancy classes basically did that in a more sophisticated and impactful way.

But you start around that center depending on the class you picked you start at differantl locations. 2 Classes share a starting point for a total of 12 classes (6 starting places). Each class has 3 acendancies making it basically 36 classes. Acendencies really are what shape the playstyle of the class the most.

If i get it right, all you need is one game copy? That's sick. Could you couch coop on pc, two different screens, screen 1 for Player 1(my main monitor), screen 2 for Player 2(my TV).... THAT would be LEGENDARY!

In another interview the game director did confirm that you can couch co-op on PC. In fact, if you play with a controller on PC it will be 1 for 1 with consoles. Only difference is you can also play with a keyboard and mouse.

The game is free. You don't need a "copy". Just download and play the full game. No content restriction. Monetization is cosmetic (no extra power) and some one time extra stash space you can buy (but you can play a lot without isses without them). Just at some point if you love the game you'd want to buy some of them at least for massive extra convenience.

While I don't have an issue with it, the skill tree I'd STILL massive and will probably still put off alot of people from trying the game. I get depth, but most poe players don't even make their own builds. They just copy from someone else that has already figured out the correct paths to not brick your characters

Well, the skill tree is POE so they can't make it smaller. You can now hold shift on nodes on the passive tree and it will tell you how it affects your character and skills you have equipped before you use the point. Respecing is also cheap during campaign and only costs gold. More expensive early endgame and very expensive to respec points at late endgame but thats fine.

@Takaoshi oh for sure but they're trying to appeal to a broader audience but imo it will end up appealing to the same crowd that plays POE1. I'm fine with it, but if their vision was to appeal to new players, couch coop will only go so far once they see the massive tree. Although they have tutorials, the issue with POE is if you don't choose the RIGHT one then you won't have enough damage or survivability to beat the campaign. This game is already harder than the last one and you saw the other guys reaction to not knowing anything and the ramping difficulty. Again I'm fine with it, but it seems they still will appeal to the same crowd as before

@@richardgreen5756 Kind of the reason why they have done a lot of new player testing as well. People that have never played the first game at all and some that played it a little bit. That is the reason we see so much good tutorials etc in poe 2. From what im seeing it will be a lot better for new players to get into even though it still has the same depth. Even jonathan said that people that have tested it that never played poe 1 didn't have any issue with the skill tree or the difficulty it was just a lot of minor stuff that they missed. Do i think poe 2 will have a larger audience? Absolutely, but there will also be people that will put it down very quickly just like every game and if they do then the game isn't for them and that is totally fine. Time will tell of course, but i've talked to a lot of friends that have barely tried poe 1 and they are really excited for poe 2. Another thing i think is nice in poe 2 is that when you choose a passive node on the tree for strength, dex and int you choose which one you want.

The auto-gen map randomization in this is exactly what D4 dungeons should have been. They are such a joke compared to this. Very nice to see and very much looking forward to playing this when it releases.

I am not going to use that, but I've played enough local coop to suggest an option to separate screens - when there's a lot going on it's more annoying than anything when the camera just keeps panning in and out. There's supposedly less "zoooming" around but I presume at some point when both players try to run away in different directions from something it will be fun when camera just moves all around.

Technical limitations make it an issue, they said even zooming out the camera more greatly increases performance demand, let alone a whole second screen.

I love it when D4 devs were showing off two young female devs with two 30ish characters trying to explain the "depth" of a D4 game....they were so OUT of touch with reality EVERYONE felt not terrible, but sorry for them. At the time, most players had already reached lv100 and the "end game" was horrible causing people to abandon the game. The developers, apparently, were the ones that were clueless beyond hope what gamers really wanted out of an end game "Action RPG." When I look at POE2 devs, the contrast is like talking to a REAL ADULT vs the kid devs @ blizzards.
