I've never liked accuracy in general in an action rpg. If the attack or spell visual comes in contact it should do damage. We're not talking about a cRPG where it's slower, and there are 'abstractions' in the form of rolls that determine things like that. It's an action RPG, if you hit, you should hit, if the enemy moved out of the way, then it should be a miss.

I also feel this way. I've always thought accuracy was useless as well; it only exists to be solved, and makes the game feel worse until it is solved.

We are getting so close. As excited as I am, I do have this sense of dread about some portion of the POE 1 player base not giving the differences a chance to settle before losing their shit & trying to make POE 2 POE 1.

If monster size and actual speed are taken into account for how much accuracy is needed + proximity of enemy to player then I’ll be happy. Makes no sense to need more accuracy for stuff right in front of you and especially if they huge size and slow.

Well if you want to get into what 'makes sense' then accuracy is VERY important at ANY distance. Accuracy when punching or hitting something with an object is critical. Anyone that has done any kind of combat sport would know this. So I guess I'm saying get a fucking clue boi

Tbh arrows are easier to hit than axes. Almost all bosses are gigantic, and arrows usually easy to hit at 30m. And arrows are fast REALLY fast.

The way Far Reach is worded makes me wonder if “At Range” will just be a set distance where accuracy is reduced by a set amount, instead of scaling with distance.

I am incredibly sad that accuracy will be in PoE2. It always feels bad in games where you can miss by aiming incorrectly or getting the distance wrong, to be able to get that right and miss anyway. Having to invest in it feels like paying the mafia not to smash up your store and makes me resentful of the stat instead of appreciative. Doesn't help that it's tied to my favorite (thematically) stat, either.

Resolute technique downside seems kind absurd for poe 2 perspective? Given that melee now requires waay less accuracy than any ranged character. Unless they have a lot more rolling magma style melee builds.

It could still be good for early game accuracy if it's needed, or maybe it will be changed. I agree that it would be far less attractive in the mid to late game with no crit.

Note that crit is being adjusted somewhat in PoE 2, so that it's not simply the obvious best way to scale damage anymore.

In PoE2 they are simplifying spell and attack by making block and evade work on both because they are just hits now. Does this apply to accuracy? Will we need to get accuracy for our spells?

To be honest, this part of Poe2 is the least exciting. Accuracy and those extra stats (what I like to call them) that can be very useful in some situation should be easy to understand. When you add layers of complexity, on top of essential stats that you have to take in account (defense and such), making a stat complex and difficult to understand will push players away to focus on those and will make them flee the idea of touching them at all. It happen to me in my first days of poe where I put accuracy, leech, and spell supp on the forgotten well, just because I really didn't understand their application correctly. Now with accuracy being a little more complex, along with a new blocking system and probably many more new rework and new stats, I feel it will be overwhelming, especially for new players. If GGG is taking this path, I hope we will have a proper index (or codex as it can be called also) with all stats and mechanics explained in details.

Is "Always hits" actually slightly different and stronger than "your hits cant be evaded", as always hits to me would imply your hits bypass block? Or now that I think about it, when you block an attack it technically still hits, its just that the damage is blocked. so perhaps they are the same, I think they should keep the terminology consistent and just call it "your hits cant be evaded".

Once you realize that, it will be easier for you. It doesn't matter if you kill the mobs faster, everyone will kill them faster, so you won't get richer or be faster than other people.

@@AnaICarnaval Then this game might not be for you. Surely Poe2's combat will be better, but I doubt it will be on the level you want it to be. In that case, you can't imagine how annoying it will get if you'll have to parry every single monster in order to do a map. It might be that but there's a low chance. Also gearing and preparing your character for weeks is satisfying for a lot of players, you can't just remove that. In the whole history of D3 and D4, you can get the key uniques you need in a day or 2, and then you just have to get the perfect rolls on them. THAT is not fun when defining character build development. Try something like Sekiro or CP 2077, those have stronger emphasis on gameplay and not so much on builds. So maybe it's just the wrong game for you. I just wanted to express that I'm grateful that GGG are just creating what THEY want to play. And I don't think they are making a game that attracts the most players out of all games in the world. In that case you are better off creating something like fortnite or even candycrush.

Well it was kind of dextirity is for agile, attacking and crit builds. Accuracy comes from dextirity. The int counterpart would be mana, which is needed for spells. I kind of like that idea. It also means that you have naturally stronger synergy on int classes with spells and dex classes with attacks without prohibit those classes from using both.
