I would like to see a 6 month period where passives can be refunded for free because nerfs and buffs can happen at any time. It's good for players to be able to adapt and create new builds to compensate without having to worry too much. After 6 months, gold payments can be introduced. Right now, some players don't have enough gold left to refund their passives and playing new characters slows down their progress even more.

I think you all miss the point. They are buffing roll and they buffed drops. They are nerfing stuff that's out of line. This is supposed to be slower game where you dont just click 1 button to destroy everything. Poe1 is still there if u want to just zoom around click 1 button and clear the map in less than 5 minutes.

Agree with the gold cost to respect. It's EA, people really deserve it, give them free chance ( or at least make it easier) to try different builds, explore the game, the skills, the passives, make their own builds. But in this case GGG decides to nerf things ( which Im fine with) then they should give people at least a free chance to rebuild their character.

I said the exact same thing. We are forced into playing meta builds to get through the content. I am unable to experiment with what I really want to try since I am unlikely to be able to progress through the story. The last update we received said that our pre-release characters will not be transferred to standard realm on release. If this is the case then make respec absolutey free for characters in the "pre-release realm". It allows for experimentation and will help GGG with buffing lower skills to make a more diverse meta.

Nerfs are fine, but these are nukes. And since repsecing is so expensive that it's virtually impossible for anyone who doesn't play this game for a living, this essentially kills peoples characters. I dont blame people for quitting. You have to basically make a new character. Respecing should be free during EA. You can't even try different builds without first spending a week farming gold to respec. Pretty bad look for a game that was supposed to put Diablo 4 out of business. They're making all of the same mistakes so far. Kneejerk massive nerfs in week 1 with no compensation for reslecing doesnt set a good precedent.

Either way, you are a clown. Adjusting numbers and reasonable nerfs are fine. Nuking entire builds 1 week after going live shows reactionary behavior with very little thought involved. That's terrible for a game developer. POE 1 had the same issue. The devs were entirely too strict and heavy-handed. This game is starting off the same way. Also, as I stated in my original post, readjusting your build isn't even possible for 99% of the player base because the cost is astronomical high. Streamers and full-time gamers are having trouble resetting characters. Many people have just deleted their characters and are waiting until the full release of the game. Respecing your character should be 100% free during EA anyway. The whole point is to test and try things. But when it takes 10 hours of gold fsrming to reset once, that kills the entire viability of that. This has been up to this point, a horrible EA period. Its obviously early, and they can turn it around, but dick riding them and acting like they haven't made a huge mistake is only going to hurt the game. People like you should never be taken seriously. You are no different than the POE cultist who made the first game unbearable. If you can't be objective, then at least be quiet. This type of behavior is not conducive to a successful EA period.

They really do need to re-visit there re-spec system. There are obviously and expectedly going to be balancing Oopsies. Players who have spent considerable time specing into said Oopsies should not be penalized so badly. Early access should be a collaborative process between the developers, and the people who have paid to be along for the ride of discovery.

If they kill your build you should not have to spend days grinding gold playing a nerfed possibly no fun build just to change it to something else that may get nerfed. Also you shouldn’t have to Strat a brand new toon and start from the beginning either. I agree that later it should not be free but when lots of balancing and changes happen then it should be free or super cheap. Also, they should want players to test everything.

Respec balancing costs and gold acquisition are being tested too though, so removing respec costs or dramatically lowering them, does not provide good data. People will get into the habit of the reduced rate/removed cost and cause a shitload of pushback and complaining when they revert it to normal. It's not worth the issues it will cause and the lack of data they'll get. Yes, when significant changes happen, a single free tree respec should be triggered, and it will eventually happen. The "cast on" nerf isn't it though. Nerfing those abilities still leaves you with a functional tree, there's nothing on the tree related to Meta skills or Energy.

You pretty much nailed it at the end of your video. I’m not a natural fan of this genre of game, but I got into it over the past week because of all the options to experiment. I would say %85 for the experimentation and the fun from THAT. I love to try some idea I have for a build, find out it is a wash, and be able to go back to the blackboard and figure something else out. But I’m only at the end of act two and already I feel I’m not getting any exciting drops, and the gold I make can barely cover a handful of passive node respects - in a game that gives a tree of what, ~ 1000 nodes? So where is the flexibility, and why can’t we have it. I have reached a few brick walls and overcome them a few times by rethinking my builds which I found to be the most satisfying thing about the game. But the vendors still have %95 crap and seem to only refresh when leveling and the gambling ones are way too expensive to use. I don’t want to have to follow someone else guide from lvl 1 to play the game, and I will NOT be doing that. There are loads of fun games out there to play right now, and after only one week I lost interest in going through the kind of grind I would have to do to fund even modest experimentation. I’m prepared to wait and see if they improve this aspect of the game, but I’m also prepared to not play ever again. It seems that bad to me. I like experimentation but I’m not prepared to grind so much for so little experimentation. I’m not sure how redoing your whole tree for free would hurt the game, but if there is a logical agreement for how it would then they should minimize the cost subject that constraint - maybe rethink THEIR “build”.

I love that I wasted my time building a CoF Sorc, just to have it nerfed less than 24hrs after getting to Act 3 on normal difficulty....I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever get a toon through the campaign at this point.... EA or not, There's no excuse for bricking player's builds after they already put in a few days of effort into min/maxing them; without at least giving players a way to respec that isn't insanely costly. I'm already sick and tired of going back to lvl 1 because my current builds(Merc and now Sorc) keep getting gutted half-way through the campaign; because no one is allowed to have a fun decently strong build. Believe it or not GGG, power fantasy in ARPGs are what makes them fun; and that feeling of becoming more powerful with better gear and damage output is what keeps most players going. If you keep wasting everyone's time by bricking their builds, there won't be many players left to enjoy the full release of the game. As of right now, loot drops still need work and the difficulty in certain areas still needs tuning(poison for instance is way over tuned right now). As a PoE 1 vet, I'm enjoying most of the changes made from the previous title, but consistently rolling out a bunch of nerfs less than a week out from the launch of Early Access AND bricking builds is not a good look.

@kirkzy1066 Full respecs should be free after this disaster of a decision, most players don't have the hundred of thousands of dollars necessary to do a full respec themselves; and are now stuck with a bricked build while now also being forced all the way back to level one again after potentially days of hard work and effort. I for one couldn't care less if a certain skill or build is "over performing", because this is a PVE focused game where player's builds only affect others if they are playing in a group. If I was a struggling player and a buddy joined my group with an "OP build", I wouldn't be complaining; I'd be thanking them while I sit back and enjoy the free map completions and loot drops(which many new Players are struggling with at the moment). The fact of the matter is, GGG went back on their word regarding nerfs; as that's almost the entirety of what we've seen over the past few days and now many players are paying the price with a ton of wasted time and effort.

This is a great game. However, for the life of me, I will never understand why the fix to balance in games like these is always to make the game less fun. You even say it in your video - freeze is less satisfying. Just buff leech, buff some enemies, and keep it pushing. I have limited time so I play games to feel powerful and have fun. This is still fun, but it’s moving in the opposite direction on this.

The idea seems so fun, why not make it a chance on effect, why not give it a short cd so it cannot occur 100x per second. Im just not sure why they nerfed on cast effects so hard into the ground to the point where no one will bother ever using them again less than a week after early access launch.. there are a dozen different ways to nerf these support gems without making them totally useless. We all agree the trigger effects are super fun and cool, let us have fun but nerf them so they are not so op. Lower damage of supported gem, make it so a skill supported by on cast cannot trigger any other effects, give the triggered effect have a short cd so it cant happen 100 times. Like there are so many ways to nerf it without gutting it so hard.

i just got my cast on freeze since there was no spirit in act 2 so i couldn't use my cast on freeze in act 2 when a mod dropped the spirit gem, there should be spirit in each act, i was doing a minion build but im around end of act 2 and i feel like i have way to little spirit, so i made a ice sorc and gambled on a staff and got a blue ice staff with +3 all cold gems in act 3 i was using cast on freeze with comet since the animation is way to long to cast it myself and i don't see myself move back when i did cast it like the video for the skill showed. edit: i tried cast on freeze after the nerf its not worth using anymore takes way too long comet is my highest damage spell i have outside of cold snap which you can only use on frozen enemies it be better to just cast comet myself every other ice spell i have takes way to long to kill stuff

Hex blast is good on the chaos dot witch. Despair plus temporal curse. Haven’t seen anything that increases curses yet, but if so then hypothermia. Put the support to make chaos dots make all hits on an enemy apply chill. Decaying hex on the curses. Plop down a dark effigy with wither on it. Every enemy should get pummeled by the totem from decaying hex, contagion, and essence drain. They should max out either stacks immediately and the totem plus your dots will do insane damage. If you don’t need to reapply anything just hex blast and then reapply curses.

my concern for changes like nerfing cast-on is that it will promote narrow meta of builds that are viable because they'll eventually nerf everything to the point where there is 1 meta and if they nerf everything to the ground, the game will be artificially difficult because player is massively under powered while the game difficult. Generally, games like this are suppose promote fun but changes like this will promote anti-fun. When they say, they want avoid nerfs, their message is opposite. They want nerf everything and anything remotely effective.

Respec should be free. I have no idea, literally not a single idea, what exactly game developers are trying to achieve with this mechanic. You can not afford starting a new character each time your build is gutted or you want to try something new. It is dozens of hours already, and it easily can be hundreds in the future. Exactly why are they trying to punish people who want to try something different? Like what is the goal? I was very enthusiastic about PoE2 at launch, but now it looks rather grim. 2 patches and exactly one thing they've done completely right - zero hitbox for dodge roll. No melee buffs/changes (good luck playing warrior last 3 maps and final boss in Act 2). No respec changes. And while melee tuning is not a universal problem, respec costs are. It is mentioned in every single threat, people really hate it. Especially it makes no sense keeping them that high during early access. Hey, you made it so people try your game in and out and give you feedback. I say if they wont take action in 2-3 weeks from here i will shelve the game for better times.

Remember this will be a free to play game and more than likely they will have a respec in the cash shop. They want you to be able to do it with gold but it does need to be prohibited for their game model.

Honestly? After hearing all of this? I'm fine lol. Game is in early access still. It's very disappointing seeing so many fans turn on the game so quickly all because of some nerfs?
