I gotta say.. gotta give props to Fextra for adding a disclaimer at the beginning of the video. POE1 and POE2 is just one of those games where your beginner experience can get completely ruined if you happen to get misguided by clickbaity builds. By all means, it's not a difficult game, but a misguided player could easily brick their build if they happen to be misled, especially if they don't know what they're doing.

First timer POE player here, I never used any poison skills, got like 30 armor the whole game so basically zero, only evasion. It turns out, this way, you can make your gameplay against bosses very similar to hardcore ranged dodge-master dark souls :D

Gas arrow with the support to make them fire 3 at a time, stack em up on mobs, then detonate by casting firewall. Massive damage and it can carry you through the game.

I started with that build but I found that I really missed using lightning arrow and the lightning rods. That style of gameplay was just faster and felt better for me so I dropped gas arrow firewall

@Ascendancy- I use a combo. Armor breaking with the gas clouds then spam firing shockers is a lot of fun.

Gas arrow (cull), and poison shot, stand back, heal hp. Barely flask even at boss level Barrage (add extra charges) + lightening Rod + lightening arrow. You'll thank us later.
