@rainogh6440 listen to "to victory" track from the movie 300. The female vocal that shows up mid track is the basis of this song. And I believe the old main theme borrowed elements from "Rachel found dead" from the movie enemy of the state

I will never forget the first time I first set foot into the 2nd level of the Lunaris Temple 3-4 years ago. At first glance, it looks and runs just like the previous level, but, as you progress further, it gets far more dark and grisly, to the point where you start seeing mountains of corpses pile up as a result of Piety's experiments. This, along with this soundtrack at 1:58, and the inhumane screams and cries of pain and agony in the background, has really unsettled me for a good minute or two, and I loved every single second of it. THIS is DEFINITELY what makes Path of Exile put ARPGs like Diablo III to shame. GGG holds no punches when it comes to horror. They made a complete masterpiece of this game, and it shows flawlessly, especially with this scene.

I do not blame GGG. Licensing issues are licensing issues. I understand. I do not blame Kamil. He had big shoes to fill, and mostly did it -- a lot of his "replacement" work is AT LEAST a "sidegrade", and some of it is a straight upgrade. The new Dominus battle theme, for example, despite being a lot shorter, is utterly fantastic. I do not blame anyone involved. But _god_ I will miss this specific track. The new one isn't even close. RIP old Solaris theme. You gave me chills when I first entered the location.
@BottomOfTheDumpsterFire

No, see, what bothers me is that Adgio's original tracks were also removed. For example, the intro theme and Lioneye's Watch were 100% original works, and not licensed music or others' music that was hacked up and played as a straight 2 minute sample. Those were the biggest losses.
@misharatkevich9808
@misharatkevich9808 2 жыл бұрын
@@BottomOfTheDumpsterFire Would _you_ want to trudge through Adgio's work, never knowing FOR SURE if the remaining themes are original? It's a lot of work and risk for comparatively little gain. But yes, intro theme and Lioneye's theme are two huge losses. Another one is Solaris/Lunaris, but IIRC that actually was a stolen licensed track, so that had to go.

@misharatkevich9808
@misharatkevich9808 2 жыл бұрын
@@destruction42k Before they invited Kamil, they had Adgio Hutchings do some of the acts 1-3 music. For some reason, despite being more than capable of producing fantastic work on his own, he decided to supplement it by ripping off some royalty-free music and passing it off as his own. My guess is that he actually did _buy_ the licenses, which explains why this was only found much later on... or maybe he did just steal the tracks and this wasn't found until much later. Regardless, either this was discovered, or the Adgio-bought license time ran out, but GGG was in hot water and had to replace all the licensed tracks. Since they also had no easy way of knowing which Adgio tracks were original and which weren't, everything he ever wrote for this game had to be axed and Kamil wrote replacements. A lot of them were really good, but this old track (IIRC one of the stolen ones) is amazing and was a pitch perfect fit for the Solaris/Lunaris temples. The new track is just not as good.

The Lunaris Temple scenario, that was a really creepy location, tons of corposes, river of blood, screamings of dispair, a true hell envyroment, no doubt about, true hell made by humans (no need for demonds to make it creepy). This track fits so well in that scenario.

+Marco Aurelio Martínez de Escobar Martínez Yes the hellish location. Filled with many atrocities that are incomprehensible to the normal human mind but understood by those twisted and reviled. Those abominations created by Piety in pursuit of her goals towards a greater power; indeed the Lunaris Temple is a hellish place. The detritus everywhere you walk, the blood and bodies, the twisted monstrosities waiting in the light of the burning pyres. Truly a place out of hell itself. Well now... I had to get that out of the way. Its my way of describing something like that in the tone of a narrator. Also the music does seem to suit it.

I will admit, I did not like this game when it first came out. I made a duelist and got him to the early-thirties before deciding I didn't want to continue on. PoE felt a little lacking, dry and low-budget. Mechanics were odd, stiff, and content felt lacking, which coincided with the smooth gameplay of D3. Years later, D3 turned out to be a failure. It sold well, but it never captivated its player-base like the previous titles did. After playing many seasons and realizing the game wouldn't change from its poor release, I downloaded PoE, because I remembered how fast my attack speed was on the Duelist. I kind of wanted to see that again. I ended up making a Witch instead. After leveling through the game up to 'Act 3' of 'Merciless' difficulty, I realized that the early stages of the game gives players a slow beginning. Once you make it to mid-game, the content begins to blossom beautifully. I began to notice all of the attention to detail, the music (like this one!), the ambiance; I noticed something that I did not before: a passionate development team that was not going to stop improving the game. I realized that my Witch build wasn't very optimized, but no matter - Ascendancy was about to release. I remade her and planned her differently for my next go. I ended up turning my next rendition into a bad-ass Elementalist with Glacial Cascade. The AoE size, the INSANE amount of cast speed and cold damage that I had spec'd into was surely something that gave me much pleasure to witness, as demons broke into icy chunks and melted all around me. Still, her build had flaws. I would either need to buy a ton of Regret Orbs or remake. I chose to make a Scion, and when I did, I realized the beauty of the game's enormous customization potential opened before my eyes and I was hooked. Since this time, Hundreds of hours of fun have been had, and this is still my primary game. If I didn't have such demanding life commitments, I would easily be glued to this game for thousands of hours. Part of me is angry with myself that I didn't give PoE a chance when it first came out. Maybe it was because I was a little younger, a little less-wise - and with it, impatient. Nonetheless, I am glad that I came back and decided to play once more. I love everything about this game. PoE rocks!

I had almost the exact same experience. I was somewhat disappointed with D3, the action was good and satisfying, but I missed the RPG elements. PoE open beta came around at the time but it felt very slow and clunky. I also didn't really like or get the concept that every character could learn the same things because I was so used to the standard class fantasy of Diablo. It just seemed like all the characters were the same. I came back after a long time, and I viewed the game differently. I saw how each character started out differently on the passive tree, and that they truly were more like "characters" with certain talents, born with a gift but nothing predetermined like a class. The Marauder had a natural affinity for easily getting physically stronger and getting more health, but if you really wanted to you could make him a spellcaster, despite his brutish nature. Scion ended up becoming my favorite because she starts in the middle of the passive tree; a jack of all trades with the natural talent to become anything she wants. So I found a build online, told myself not to be so dismissive of the game's early start, and I actually managed to get an Arc witch in her mid 50's, which was a big accomplishment for me. Suddenly the combat was fun, and it was so satisfying to fry hordes of helpless enemies with blasts of chaining lightning. The sound effect of Arc is something I still love to this day. I learned about support gems, and I no longer had to resort to play the game using only Heavy Strike and Whirling Blades. The build possibilities are just tremendous, and there are so many interesting combination that surprise me, like spell totem + righteous fire. What I'm trying to convey I suppose is that the game has come a long way the last few years, and it's a shame to see people still being critical about it because they tried it in the open beta, but never gave it another chance. My friend always complained about PoE, because he tried it once in the early days and gave up, just like me. I was actually able to convert my skeptic friend, by trying to play together, explaining to him how things work, and handing him some leveling uniques and currency to speed up the slow beginning. I taught him how to buy things from PoE trade, not to spend much currency at crafting low level stuff and how to follow and chose a good starting build. Now today his eyes are opened to this game, and the vast amount of theorycrafting, building and replayablity that is possible. This went on longer than expected but your comment was just such a joy to read. For me and my friend to have such a similar experience just goes to show how much this game has improved. People really ought to give this game another try.

D3 is still fun nowadays.It's aged now and they need to do a sequel but it still feels really good to kill shit in that game. PoE never felt as good for me, even though it's the better game the combat just didn't grab me and that is what is most important IMO. I also completely hate the early and middle stages of PoE the story is just so boring up until you get to Lunaris Temple. I can see why people love it but D3 is still more fun imo, the combat just feels better.

@@Timotheus24 It "sold 13 million copies" and is named to be a "success" for only one reason: People these days are much more inclined to stick to comfort, over complexity. That is, people are more inclined to buy something that is simple to understand, over something that actually requires a mind to comprehend its worth. There are many game-developing companies that chose this route. The route that says, "Let's choose a different approach to gather a larger audience." And those two key words, "larger audience" are most prominent, because with such a route to take, quality is always abandoned. The human brain is incapable of possessing two primary focuses. The human brain is instead, capable of possessing a primary and a secondary focus. That means that a game-developing company is forced to choose between focusing primarily on quality, over quantity, over to choose quantity, over quality. You cannot focus on both, at the same time. D3 went the route of focusing primarily on quantity, over focusing primarily on quality.

As much as I like the aesthethics and music of the Solaris Temple, I think that places like Lunaris or the Aqueduct are far more befitting to PoE's dark, gritty theme.

Such a good soundtrack. I cant believe this is gone from the game. What amazes me is that whoever produced this music is soo selfish that they would let this die. Why on earth didnt ggg renew the license with these guys? Oh because they needed to save money.

Some of Adgio Hutchings work turned out to actually be licensed stock music (!) and I guess the licenses ran out. Rather than pick out which tracks can and can't be used, GGG decided to nuke Adgio's work out of the orbit and replace it all with Kamil's work that's guaranteed to actually be original. I really liked pre-Oriath main theme, old Lioneye's Watch and this track. Old Sarn Encampment theme, too. Now, in all honesty, main theme, Lioneye's Watch and Sarn are, at the very least, sidegrades (if not upgrades), the new tracks are just as good... but not with this one. The new track is OK, but the old one was just unbeatable. A sad loss for the game's atmosphere in Solaris and also Lunaris temples. This track's modifcation for Lunaris being the lead up to Piety was so good.
