I'm currently playing a Fighter with the Staff Acrobat dedication and it is amazing fun to play. And I never thought I would ever want to play a D&D style Fighter in any previous edition.

That staff acrobat fighter sounds really fun and interesting! Exactly the kind of outside the box build that PF2 is all about!

@@CollectiveArcana it's a lot of fun! I basically just made Cheetara from Thundercats. lol Lots of acrobatics, tripping enemies, and attacks of opportunity. Probably not the strongest build around, but it's decent and a ton of fun.

@@mousebrewz4626 The great thing about 2e is as long as you keep your primary stat maxed, you'll remain perfectly effective! Yes, some builds may be stronger than others, but base class abilities and a maxed stat means you'll be able to do what you're supposed to do, and do it well. The rest is just adding specialization or versatility, and its very freeing because it allows you to build how you want without being a hindrance to the party! Also I was picturing Katt from Breath of Fire 2, haha, so I wasn't far off!

Love your videos and I love playing my human (half-orc) fighter in PFS! Shield and gnome flickmace. One note: Bulwark is not an armor specialization effect. It's a trait. You get it as soon as you put on full plate, no matter if you have armor specialization or not. Can't wait for the Monk video!

Oh hey thanks for the correction! The gnome flickmace is fantastic!

The 2e Fighter is closer to a superhero than either 1e or 5e D&D's versions.

Fighters are basically the strongest class in this system.
@CollectiveArcana4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Legendary martial attacks (as opposed to magic attacks which dont benefit from item enhancements) are positively brutal when combined with the +10/-10 critical mechanics. For me though it isnt just the power (though thats wonderful) its the surprising amount of flavor that sort of comes with it by happenstance. Not just the versatility of the builds, but the martial superiority is both obvious and intrinsic in play, and creates opportunities for truly epic characters with what previously just felt like a generic class. Where you alwqya could have built a hoplite, now you can build Achilles, and thats a significant distinction.
@Tulkash013 жыл бұрын
Whoa! Hold your horses! The fundamental limits of the class are still there. PF2E fighters are great at fighting with accuracy and skill instead of brute force (that’s the barbarian’s domain) and that’s great. Outside of combat they can be useful, thanks to the PF skill system but unless they pick up a dedication they are not going to change the flow of the game like a spell caster can

@@Tulkash01 Say what you want but a fighter still out DPR's a barbarian due to their multiple attack actions and reactions.
@Tulkash013 жыл бұрын
@@christophergibson4429 The fighter hits more often because of his better proficencies but Barbarians cause more damage when they hit. Much depends on the kind of opponent you are facing. Generally speaking fighters will be better against higher AC opponents while babrbarians will trash lower AC opponents requiring less attacks to kill them outright. That said yes, in PF2 fighters are better at fighting than other martial classes BUT those classes all bring more to the table than just fighting because their chassis also includes other stuff.

I haven't looked in detail at 2E fighter, but I actually might want to play one. I stayed away from Fighter in PF1E unless I was taking a cool prestige class like Sanguine Angel - just cuz fighter felt so boring and one-dimensional with its "roll-to-smack" playstyle. While it's still pretty much roll to smack and little else, it does feel a bit more dynamic in 2e.
@CollectiveArcana3 жыл бұрын
Its so much more! Fighter is no longer required to spend half its feats just make its build work, so you have more room to branch out or pickup things that just look fun. And having feats you can retrain every morning means you'll always have something no matter where the fight takes you!
@sirbagelsworth94633 жыл бұрын
@@CollectiveArcana Yeah. I just finished making an Orc Dhampir Barbarian with the Animal Instinct and Monk Dedication. If I didn't want to be a ragey screamer that throws things around so much, I probably would have given Fighter a chance.
@hammerspace8866 Жыл бұрын
most martial classes get crit spec at level 5. Usually with their mechanic. barbarians get crit spec when raging, rangers against marked targets, rogues against flatfooted enemies. Monks can get crit spec at level 2 with the brawling focus feat. Champions only get crit spec when they take the blade ally option at level 3. Bards get crit spec at level 11 when they have a composition active. warpriest at level 7 for their deity's fav weapon, cloistered cleric at level 11. I don't think any other spellcasters get crit specs, not sure about the alchemist

My friend is playing a Fighter in a Fall of Plaguestone game I'm running. Between his AC from a shield and his heavy hits, he is really a strong character. I'd like to try using one if I can find someone to run.
@CollectiveArcana4 жыл бұрын
Yes we have a shield fighter with a bastard sword in the game where I'm a player, and the flexibility he has to raise a shield and block and switch to 2- hand grip for extra damage when the shield is broken is excellent. The fact that he's so effective at offensive and defensive play with so little investment is huge! Love having him around!

Sounds like 2e fighters are nothing more or less than brutally competent. No magic, divine blessings, or quasi magical rage or focus.
