The second great exodus, when I remember talking to someone who grew up playing 3.5 and when WOTC released 4e people were really pissed, that was around the time PF1e was released, they told me essentially there was a large number of people who didn't want to deal with virtual tabletops and the new gaming license at the time so the new upstart whose game was based on 3.5 became popular until 5e was released

This is "The Good Friends of Jackson Elias, a Call of Cthulhu Podcast" entry level video that I need, as I'm planning to get into Pathfinder 2e. I definitely recommend the sheet I have linked in the description. The auto-calculations make everything so much simpler. 2e can be a bit of a beast at first glance, but once you understand the proficiency bonus applies to almost everything, it gets way easier to manage your sheet. A lot of comments are people who switched from DnD because of the OGL situation. As a new player who was going to start the hobby soon I'm just diving right into Pathfinder because of the recent MtG Pinkerton ordeal. Just started playing pf2e and I have a question. You mentioned the fact that a Rogue's Racket allows you to choose from different skill boosts, but do you have to do that? For example, the Ruffian says that you "can" use strength, but if I like some of the Ruffian features but still want to use Dexterity, can I? I know it won't thematically fit the idea of a Ruffian, but mechanically am I locked into strength if I want to play a Ruffian?

Does the Rogue Class at level 1 get an ability boost AND a choice of a Rogue Racket? The rule book specifically says OR.
@AlexPBenton3 жыл бұрын
The 1st level ability boost (4 free boosts) is available to all characters guaranteed. The Rogue Ability boost says Dexterity or whichever boost comes from your Racket. Because he chose Thief, the Racket boost ended up being Dexterity as well, so he didn’t end up getting a different option. If he had chosen Scoundrel, he could have gained a Charisma bonus instead if he wanted to.
@marti5420 Жыл бұрын
just a small thing, but that free ability boost cannot be applied to an ability score that you have already applied a boost too from the same source, so if i get a boost to dex and str and free boost from my ancestory i cant apply the free boost to dex or str. this video is is still invaluable tho, thanks
