Everyone has that "know it all" friend. Maybe there's a rules-lawyer in your Pathfinder 2e game. If you know someone like this, than the Investigator is the class for that person. Just tell them "at level twenty, you lose the ability to be wrong" and they'll be all over it.
That's not all though, this class is pretty cool. Watch the video now. :)

I'm pretty sure Clue Them In is like this: Fighter: I'm gonna climb this tree. *Begins climbing* Investigator: Hey bud. *Points* foothold right there. And Clue Them All In is like this: Party: let's climb this tree! Investigator: Ight gang. Before we get climbing, here are where all of the footholds are. TL;DR: CTI is you telling one guy about something while he's actively trying. CTAI is more like letting the investigator plan everything, or at least have input in every step.

I agree with this synopsis, and would like to point out that mechanically, they're distinct because in a Group Check situation, CTI is giving one person a +1 whereas CTAI is giving the entire group check an effective +1. I agree with Croog that there's no reason for this distinction narratively, and would like to add that generally speaking, being used as a reaction makes CTAI ONLY useful in group check situations specifically. Mechanically it's an interesting and valid feat, but it doesn't make much sense in the game world.

I like this format, it gives you more room to give your thoughts without being forced to say numbers info that every viewer is going to forget anyway. Playing an Empiricist Investigator in 1e, I'm super excited for this, and naturally, the Empiricist stands out to me as one of the best classes... for a certain type of campaign. For the player that takes notes on everything and wants to solve every puzzle, this is an amazing addition and, like the swashbuckler, is distant enough from other classes (the swash being in between fighter/rogue and the investigator being inbetween alchemist/rogue, at least for 1 subtype). The medical one also seems good, and the alchemical one is the closest to the 1e Investigator. Interesting to see they don't have alchemy by default; and welcoming, because it can be annoying and you end up going "why am I not just an alchemist at this point". The Empiricist might be the best at perception in the game. Sure, it isn't gonna have high wisdom typically, but it gets great proficiency AND at level 1 basically gets a free success every time they walk into a new room. For a room that only has a trap, for example, this is insane. Or you know, an actual investigation. Very +1 forward-esque design. Be interesting to chase down a suspect, scrutinize every detail of a crime scene, and sip tea while your party gets drunk.

I think that, once your characters are level 20, you're no longer a new GM...

first the level 20 is great but just because it is at level 20 I mean people can cast level 10 spells or have nearly unlimited reactions to for the big brain class to be so big brain they cant fail seems fine to me also there is a feat that i need everyone to hear about you essentially just are so big brain that you think ahead so for that once a day you can go "Oh yes I one hundred percent predicted all the events leading up to this moment and have prepared for this conundrum here is that item we need but everyone but me is too stupid to pack" and spawn an item from thin air that the party needs (terms and conditions apply)

The big difference between Clueing someone In and RP is mechanical relevance. You can RP pointing somthing out ot someone and that may or may not have an effect of their actions, however if you are an investigator your clues are so GOOD that they give actual mechanical buffs.

'Clue Them All In' makes does-a-thing when you "I relay the information". When you normally relay the info, nothing particularly happens and your party cant really do anything. This stacks with other party buffs, such as when my party members use a "I give +1 circumstance to my Investigator friend and use the Aid action for his thing." You in turn use Clue In to boost your helper! Stacking Aid bonuses and Clue In is delicious.

Id rp "cule them all in" as the way you present the information rather than the act of everyone hearing it. You could say this feat allows you to explain the information in such a clear way that everyone in your party knows how to apply it in a way to get the bonus.... It still does seem a bit odd but that's all I've got 🤣

Roleplay wise I would treat Clue Them In VS Clue Them All In as my character has become a better teacher in what he knows and can therefore express more effective information to a group

Clue them all in. It is mass guidance, the feat! Everyone gains the circumstance bonus, meaning more possible successes to get the task done. ;)

Months late, but I prefer a general overview of the character class to a level by level drawn out explanation. Specifically. I think that I'd just house rule that the feat that allows you to tell one person, also applies to all people within hearing range. Either remove the later feat, or give it some other buff, such as allowing people who weren't actively making the same check to do so. With respect to the capstone, I'm quite happy with it. Yes, it means that the DM can't stooge the players, but it fits perfectly well with the class dynamic and with a good group, will simply allow them to focus on the important stuff. Indeed, used properly, it could easily help the DM railroad the players in the direction they want the game to go.

The feat you are thinking of is Dubious Knowledge. Any time you fail a recall knowledge check, the DM gives you two pieces of information. One correct, and one false. This capstone lets you know which piece of information is correct. However, due to the other part of the feature - this would have limited benefit for a 20th level Investigator, as it would only work on a crit fail (due to the fact that the capstone feat bumps all recall checks up one stage), so it isn't as strong a combo as it sounds.

So, I think the issue you're having with Clue them all in, is the action economy. Normally, Clue them in is a reaction for you. you can then relay this information to aid another as a separate action. Clue them all in allows you to, as your reaction, get the benefits of clue them in AND give that same circumstance bonus to all of your allies making the relevant check, no matter he party size. All with your ONE reaction.

What if Clue Them In is a question framing device. So the party cleric will make a Religion check, but the Investigator re-frames the question slightly (its only for a +1) making it more likely the Cleric is thinking about the question in the right way. That particular re-framing device might only apply to a very specific question, but Clue Them All In re-frames the question in such a way that everyone thinks about it differently after that.

So I like format....i think the investigator is a interesting class. I think it might invite people to be pretentious. Not that helping your party is bad but continuously pointing out things and telling people that is wrong could get a little annoying. Let's hope not. The level 20 capstone feat is interesting but I think it will cause the GM more work then it is worth. I also think the half truths approach could frustrating for both players and GM. The GM trying to word is information specifically and the player feeling like you are working against them in particular. Just my thoughts

Your immersion? In a game with dragons and magic? The idea of someone who can spot the weakness in someone's armor or fighting style and points it out ruins your immersion?

@@Althaven_ I can see living in a world with magic that's the suspension of belief you accept when you play these games. But trying to imagine sherlocke holmes having any meaningful contribution in the middle of a fight next to 6'5" barbarians and fireball slinging wizards is just too silly. Elementary my dear Watson.
