12:40 can any nice soul explain why the velocity would only change Direction and not magnitude? i mean why's the magnitude still the same v, would it not decrease because the string due to sudden tightness would cause a jerk or something? and secondly how should the angle be theta for the disc to reach trap? 😕

For the first part the initial direction of velocity will remain the same until the cord tightens again. As soon as it is tight, a velocity opposite in direction to the initial v cos theta starts acting on it(explained in previous slide). If you see carefully when the cord tightens again, v cos theta reverses(from dotted line to bold line(towards point B)) whereas v sin theta remains same for both dotted and bold lines as it never affected the direction of motion
