Thank you D6 for making this video, I've been waiting forever for someone to make an informative video about Inquisitors, you've explained it very well and have given me a better idea to play my character more efficiently. My only suggestion to the vid, is I also believe Charisma is another important stat to invest in, since it will improve your smithing. Also to anyone playing this class, three important stats I think Inquisitors should invest in are Dex, Wisdom, and Charisma. Another great domain to have with this class is the Sun Domain, you can can your caster lvl in damage when you Smite. And at lvl8 or 9 you can cast Daylight at will. Meaning you will give any vampire or creature effected by daylight, one really bad day. Another question, I thought since Inquisitors are holy, they can use/learn all their spells.
@d6damage938 жыл бұрын
Inquisitors are like the Oracle, even though they're a divine casting class, they have to pick spells they know. Also, Inquisitors don't actually smite, the bane class feature is the replacement for a paladin smite and charisma doesn't really bear on that. But a charisma score can be valuable for an Inquisitor, as they use persuade skills, especially intimidate.
@AngelWings-r4v8 жыл бұрын
D6Damage wow I'm surprised, that would mean my DM is playing them wrong then. She got me a high Charisma so I could smite. Still Bane can still by pass armor right, depending on the alignment right? Like smiting right?
@TGlovescultistchan7 жыл бұрын
The Bane class ability gives the Bane weapon property attuned to a type of creature chosen when activated. The Bane weapon property gives +2d6 damage and increases the enhancement bonus of the weapon by +2 against creatures of that type. As a swift action the Inquisitor can change the type of creature it is attuned to. It does nothing against armor nor DR.

Clerics are faithful people bestowed with the power of their gods. Paladins are warriors who fight to bring about the doctrine of their Gods in a very direct way. Inquisitors get it done. To them it's not a job or a calling...it's what has to happen at all costs.

Dear D6, what do you think of an Inquisitor with the Irori Deity? Because Irori kinda is "friendly" with other Deitys so I'd think I'd go down the all knowledge is sacred route. What do you think?
@d6damage935 жыл бұрын
That sound like a good rp for your inquisitor. Looking at the profile and the areas of concern for Irori may give you more ideas on how to flesh out your character at the table.

Can you do a video on a melee inquisitor build?
@Dragon4Soul7 жыл бұрын
Finley Deeley I've been working on a melee build for a back up character. Haven't used him yet of course but he's urban inflator with conversion inquisition. Heavy build into teamwork feats with solo tactics and then all your regular melee feats. I'm still up in the air on whether to go sword and board or two hand (falchion, preferably keen). So far it looks like an effective build but I'm in no hurry for my ranger to die so i can find out

u can choose domain or inquisition and one of the better inquisitions( in my opinion) is the conversion inquisition lets you use wis mod instead of cha for diplomacy bluff and intimidate

If I could bother you with a question, I'm fairly new to D&D and stumbled across an Inquisitor Archetype called an Immolator, but there's extremely few details that I can find on it such as proficiencies and spells (if any). Do I go off of the Inquisitor build with some aspects of the "immolator"? So far here is what I've found about the Immolator and where I found out about it in the first place, in said order: www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/featured-races/arg-ifrit/immolator-inquisitor-ifrit dungeon-world.com/ I would very much like to try this type of build, but would greatly appreciate some help and/or insight into it.
@d6damage938 жыл бұрын
When you're using an archetype, some features of that archetype will modify the class. It says at the bottom of the entry, what feature of the class it changes. Your race choice is already made for you, so I would say you might want to lean more on your martial abilities as the negative 2 to wisdom will impact your spell casting somewhat. Other than that the archetype doesn't change that many features of the inquisitor. Finally, I would say focus on ranged combat to make good use of the dexterity bonus you get from your race.

I've had a look at the inquisitor Archetypes and unfortunately I didn't see one with a healing focus. I would say think about what you want. If you want your primary job to be healer/ support you may think about multi classing with cleric.

Dude...I like your videos and appreciate the effort, but....this is a 7 minute waste of time. Nobody needs you to read the rule book at them. If you're going to do a class analysis, please, do some analyzing instead of telling us the absolute basics of the class. WHAT FEATS help an inquisitor? Have you ever played one? What is their primary role? Go over some effective builds. We get that it's a hybrid defender/aggressor of the faith class. The NAME tells us that. How do you make it work? Because they are only mediocre with weapons and mediocre with spells, you need to know how to make them work together or you will be Gimpy McGimpmeister.
@d6damage938 жыл бұрын
That's a fair critique of the video. My concern with the Inquisitor class is that it's not terribly straight forward. A lot of the class features are very unique and a little bit hard to understand. Next I'll come out with a ranged dps Inquisitor build. Thanks for the feedback.
@keats278 жыл бұрын
D6Damage I'd really like to play one, but it just seems like a watered down warpriest. I think ranged is probably what makes the difference, but you're going to need pb shot, precise shot, rapid shot, many shot, and maybe deadly aim...lot of feats for a caster to invest in. Class seems loaded with potential, but lacks a focus...or maybe I just don't see it yet. That's why I was disappointed with the video--sorry if I came off harsh.
@d6damage938 жыл бұрын
No problem. The lack of focus is an issue with the Inquisitor class, but it does have really good ranged potential.
@thanatos74308 жыл бұрын
D6Damage Don't confuse flexibility with a lack of focus. The core Monk is unfocused, but the Inquisitor is flexible. The Judgments allow you to respond to a variety of situations. Your Inquisition/Domain lend strength to your chosen method of play/combat. The spell list is mostly buffs/utility to again support a variety of builds. Monster Lore works with Bane and decreases Multiple Attribute Dependency to allow you to up your damage easily. Several archetypes change play style without neutering the ability to function beyond one dimensional DPR. It is a solid Tier 3 class that has a variety of applications. It is capable of doing one thing well (Damage), and still able to contribute meaningfully when its main trick is not applicable.
@keats278 жыл бұрын
Thanatos It's a watered-down warpriest. The judgements and bane add up to roughly 10 points of damage without solid melee or ranged stats that will add attacks and damage--easily compensated by blessings. Blessings are also more flexible affecting all sorts of things allowing you to choose your niche. And the big difference is...warpriests can still channel, and with feats, you can do all sorts of things with channeling. Channeling can make you an effective party healer. Inqy? Best they can do is backup heal. Multiple attributes will still, of course, be essential as they would be for any hybrid class. You give up a domain. You give up channeling. If you give up a healing domain, you'll never be an effective healer. If you choose a healing domain, there goes your damage. Your damage is hybrid damage, and will never match even a warpriest or a cleric pure caster. I think at very least this less than solid class needs 2 domains, one offensive and one defensive so that it CAN BE a hybrid. At that point, you'd have clerics (more of a pure caster), warpriest A channeling hybrid healer, and inqies..a casting hybrid healer. And I would give Inqys higher lvl spells than their warpriest counterparts.They are a bit more flexible in what they can cast, but they give up cleric spontaneous casting which means, many of your spell choices will have to be heals. Seems like this should have been a warpriest archetype rather than a full class. Make any build with an Inqy and then turn around and see how much more you get by adding channeling and blessings in place of judgement and monster lore that you can get with skills. I admit that this changes at lvls 18-20...I mean when you can just kill something (True Judgement) well...how cool is that? But how many people play to that lvl? I can also see them being effective party leaders if they went with high charisma and leadership feats, but then you need even more abilities with high scores. The more I think about it, the more I would love to see it adjusted/fixed to have more of a flexible caster focus (2nd domain higher spells) and allow all leadership feats and leadership skills...like...oratory and diplomacy type skills be WISDOM based...then I think you could talk solid class.

I played the inquisitor in a pathfinder game and when i was introduced to the group i saw a child practicing magic.... I knelt down to his level, acted friendly, then nailed his hand to the floor, i told him to put his other hand on the floor. He wouldnt so i pointed a crossbow at his sister and i asked again. He did and i nailed it to the ground. I then quoted my faith script to my diety then kicked him tearing his hands out from the nails. That basically set the tone for my character. Adults who used magic would die, but children would be maimed to prevent further herecy
@TGlovescultistchan7 жыл бұрын
...Don't inquisitors practice magic as well as clerics?
@khatack6 жыл бұрын
I think Inquisitor is a completely pointless class, it doesn't really add anything to the game that works. That was the problem with most classes and prestige classes in D&D as well, most of them are pointless and don't really add anything to the game besides some mechanical gimmick. A character could be inquisitor, you could make such a thing just by mixing the other elements of the game, have some rogue with your cleric, and that's it. There was absolutely no need to make it a base class. At least in D&D none of the core classes are pointless, they are all truly distinct in their fantasy and how they gain their power/abilities. Pathfinder has the problem even worse, Magus, Summoner, Inquisitor all are pointless classes, the really don't bring anything truly unique to the table.
