Dear Azra, Philippe and myself enjoyed your speech so much that we watched it twice! Even the parts in your native language were amazing! Though we didn't understand the words (you provided translations most of the time), we admired your interpretation. From the cute story of Sheherazade, referring to herself as “you,” to the various authors you quoted, you elegantly and creatively illustrated the illuminating view that altruism is good for humanity. Amazing! Altruistic behaviors require much more courage and strength than egotistic behaviors. For me, it is not being altruistic but remaining altruistic that is difficult in a world increasingly characterized by walls, fear, protection, and violence. You are right; only poetry can create this miracle, as it speaks directly to the soul and frees humans from needs, vices, and base instincts.
