Dearest Azra, I am writing from Paris. Philippe and I express our heartfelt gratitude to you for sharing the link to your speech, "The Genius of Giving." Upon opening it, I immediately sensed that this wasn't something to be casually watched after a long, stressful day. It demands full attention, receptivity, and absorption. So, we watched it today. We were right: it possesses the transformative power capable of altering one's life due to its profoundness and inner truth. We found ourselves completely absorbed, pausing the movie intermittently to revisit your words, taking notes, searching for the books you referenced, and occasionally lamenting our inability to comprehend Urdu. However, the essence of your beautiful message transcends language barriers, touching the heart profoundly. Thank you for your remarkable insights. You are truly extraordinary. In a time inundated with news of conflict and cruelty, your voice emerges as a beacon of life, goodness, greatness, and love. Through your words, you reveal the enchantment of poetry and its universal essence. On this Easter day, we send our warmest wishes and heartfelt affection to you. Much love, Patrizia and Philippe

Dear Azra Apa Forgive me for being so lazy in Ramazan, but my laziness is not indicative of the effect your talk on me. In fact it’s the opposite. I was compelled to address my own stubborn sense of grief of having lost so many loved ones in recent years. Grief is a funny thing. It holds both pain and comfort in its brutal paws. And when you hear someone speak about their grief, it is strangely comforting to have a ‘mehram-e-dard.’ I do not know Zohra Hussaini, but I felt close to her after listening to you. Thank you also for reciting one of my favourite ghazals of Faiz. This is one of my dad’s favourite, or used to be when he had more control on his cognition and memory. I dare not remind him of it, as it will invariably light up the memory of my late mom, who left us 4 years ago, but her memory flickers as embers of love flickering quietly in our hearts. Saying anything after your eloquent discourse is superfluous. ❤
