Hey Pete, I’ve been watching your videos for a while now. Recently I’ve started playing myself (1/1.5 Weeks ago). Just from watching yours, JJs and Digitallics videos I have turned GM in such a short time🫡🍾🍾 Thanks for the great tips, not in just the gameplay, but also the subtleties of the diplomatic aspect. In the game, which gave me the GM rank, I’ve turned a novice and a GM against each other to archive a NOOBSLAM, just based on a lot of theory of loyalty, betrayal; etc. you’ve mentioned over hours and hours of your videos. So thanks a lot for the tips!!! Keep up the great videos!!!!! Edit: Forgot to mention that I have lost 40 on a double tap, while my opponent lost 2

I'm not sure why they ever enabled the bot replacement staying in the game and getting points like normal. I'd think the solution to botting would be pretty simple, IMO: Solution is when someone bots, it locks in whatever lowest place is available (6th if everyone is still there, 5th if someone has already been killed or quit, etc.). If someone else bots or dies while they are botted, that is the place they earn. If they return before someone else dies, quits, or bots; they are back in the running and can again earn a higher placement. This should give a reasonable opportunity to reconnect in situations where it was unintended; while ending the current abuse we see of the system.

Classic fixed 3p scenario in the endgame. All three players are of equal strength. Player 1 bots. Player 2 hits Player 3 killing them. Player 1 reconnects and kills Player 2. This is the primary scenario we need to solve for. I suggest that players have a 1 or 2 turn max amount of time to reconnect before their bot locks in lowest available placement. This gives some leeway to the reconnect but only until the game state might have changed in a meaningful way.

@@TheKillPeteStrategy In my proposal, if Player 3 dies/quits/surrenders before Player 1 reconnects, Player 1 gets 3rd, Player 3 gets 2nd, and Player 2 gets 1st. The game would end upon Player 3's demise. If Player 1 reconnects while Player 3 is being killed it's back up in the air. I think turns could work also. Really they just need to do something to restrict its use. Any minor change or tweak at this point would be an improvement; even adding the 10-minute time limit to all bot types. How big of a problem are "genuine" disconnects? Can the server tell if I'm on PC vs. mobile? Could maybe go as far as to have any disconnect from PC be an automatic surrender. Then deal with mobile separately.

@ampattillo genuine disconnects are a huge problem. The system integrity is a big part of why their network overhaul is their top priority. This has been true for more than a year at this point so no sense of when it actually is going to be fixed.

Risk is inherently psychological, unlike Chess. An engine can’t evaluate games like that since the former incorporates game theory and isn’t pure tactics.

You're right in that it wouldn't go as deep as chess. But that doesn't mean it couldn't tell you obvious things like: You picked a dumb cap. You capped in Iceland. The number of troops you are/aren't putting on your capital isn't keeping up with the number of troops available to your opponents. You attacked/broke multiple opponents while being weaker. You committed more troops to take a bonus than you would have received back after a couple of turns (ie you spend 10 plus to Australia or Iceland meaning it will take you 5 turns to break even). Stuff like that would be super beneficial to anyone new to/learning the game. And given all the games of Risk that have been played I'm sure you could programmatically determine a lot more blunders that statistically lead to losing.

I didn't understand why you wouldn't just do a cap run with the big stack. I'm sure there's something i was missing. I thought you had the cap run based on the numbers.

It's close. I thought about it. I have to roll through 323 off cap troops and 1188 on cap troops. Assuming a .8x loss on the off cap and a 1.7x loss we end up with 258.4+2019.6 or 2278 stack required for the run with average luck. My 2053 stack would have to go 222 troops positive on that run. This is definitely possible but leaves a lot up to luck. I also either get 3rd or 1st. My decision to take second in the scenario is as much a loss mitigation play as it is teaching magenta a lesson. Whether or not he learned it. I think it made for a great show!

Why not cap run in the 3-player stalemate? Shift troops from one back cap to the other, then both to your main cap, then cap run. Or, just cap run. Does a 1200 cap take three 200 caps?

You can either A) cancel immediately, which with a normal subscription would refund you some money (prorated based on the remaining time until your renewal date) B) cancel on the renewal date, which will preserve your benefits until then C) pause on the renewal date, which will also preserve your benefits until then (not sure what the functional difference between pausing and cancelling is though, might just be easier to turn the subscription back on in the future)

Sure, they **say** it's only about advertisers, and quite a bit of it is, but if YT wanted they could tell advertisers to suck it up and could allow whatever they wanted (but when the US government comes knocking at their door and "politely asks them" to censor things, they do).
