That’s a lovely looking stretch Rob. Some lovely looking barbel too, well done! Regarding staying longer than intended and getting into trouble at home, I used to work on the basis that ‘ It’s easier to get forgiveness than permission ‘. Used to work OK with the missus but it’s worn a bit thin in recent years !! I had four days on the Trent a week or so ago, three very poor days for barbel but one cracking day with 12 barbel five of them being low doubles.

I like the approach Harry! That does wear thin after a while though! Well done with your own captures 👍🎣

Interesting video. I fished a few matches against the Wareham club In.the very early 70s as a junior. All I ever caught were a few stunted Roach and I struggled with the deep-water..I remember talk of the black bass but never caught or saw one Changing the subject, do you know where the Breach Carp came from? I am also trying to find out the origin of the Radipole Lake Carp. I know they were stocked in the early to mid 60s and Mick Wiffin once told me but I didn't write it down and have forgotten. I started fishing Radipole in 1971. Yes. Annoys the hell out of me too. Sea Bass! Aaagh!

Hi, great video. I live in Bristol and was planning a short holiday on the Trent to try and catch a double figure Barbel. But after watching this, I've had a change of plan. I fish the Wye now and then and it's so expensive, the stretch I fish is £33 a day. The stretch that you fished in this video is £35 a year for me. On top of that, the Barbel are larger, so hopefully I can catch a double there. Thanks.

I’ve recently taken up fishing again and over the last few months my Goal was to catch a barbel. it’s been hard work to say the least as I’ve blanked every time at montford bridge which used to be very good as I remember as a boy and a few trips on the Trent (stafford) however after watching this video last night I thought this it it!! So I travelled with my two boys and we did it! I didn’t have scales but it was between 9 and 10lb at a guess and put up one hell of a fight! Fantastic educational video and fantastic location. Thanks Rob me and my lads had a great day fishing 👍🏼🎣 tight lines

Very informative thanks how close is the parking? For a disabled angler.
@RobsAngling Жыл бұрын
It’s very close at Sydney Avenue for the majority pegs. There are steps down to most pegs from the roadside. 👍

I had a 14lb barbel off the bottom peg on that stretch. My thinking was, all the bait pushed down ended up on the willow (far bank) at the end of the run. Had loads of Barbel off that spot.

14lb Barbel is a beast for the Middle Severn 👌🎣

I decided to fish here for the first time, three months ago, because every peg was taken turned out to be a brilliant stretch. I had my first double figure on here at 10lbs

Hi Steve, it’s Sydney Avenue in Shrewsbury. There is no night fishing here. You can park behind pretty much all pegs on the stretch though so it’s convenient. Good luck with your own fishing👍🎣
