Lovely video Rob, I'm due a session this Saturday on the severn myself, normally adopt the float ledger tactic myself as the stretch I have available has no true slack areas and is fairly narrow, I have had success holding the float back in the flow in a fixed position. where do you think the limit is for perch in the severn? do you think a perch of 5lb or above is possible?
@annataylor78753 күн бұрын
no way, I found your float in the bush on your left snagged up while i was fishing last Sunday. Thankyou for drawing the perch in for me as i had a few nice sized perch that session. Great vid

What are the reels like? Have you trotted for barbel on them? 🎣
@RobsAngling15 күн бұрын
Yes - But I tend to find the closed face better for the less powerful species. I’ve had a few Barbel on this setup - Ideally on open water stretches where there is plenty of room to play when away from any snags.

Hi Rob, some nice Perch mate. Try Loading some of your stick floats using Drilled .22 Air Rifle pellets pushed up with the stem (with a Tight Fit) and painted over. I've done this with a lot of my "Home Made" floats as well. 🤔 Better than Lead /Solder wire.

What weight gripper are you using to hold bottom on this stretch?
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Hi Spencer, I carry 3oz-5oz for all of my winter River Severn Barbel fishing. It’s rare I’d be using 5oz though - Most situations are covered by 3oz 👍

I thought pike did not like resistance? Surely it would drop the bait once picking up and feeling the weight
@RobsAnglingАй бұрын
Hi Sam, I was using a running rig so the line will pass through the run ring as the pike moves off with with the bait, with the lead not moving on the bottom - No resistance felt. 👍

Hi rob, great videos mate , question is your option on Korum barbel rods , Omega or X-calibre ? Cheers , dave
@RobsAngling2 ай бұрын
Hi Dave, I’ve only used the Omega myself which have been very competent and good quality rods. That said - My Korum Barbel rods aren’t far off them in terms of overall performance so don’t discount those if they fit your requirements. 👍🎣

Hi Rob, A great video as always. Do you mind me asking what set up you use for capturing the photos of the fish you catch please?
@RobsAngling2 ай бұрын
Hi Chris, I have a fairly robust tripod that I utilise for my filming.. I this use for stills and video via a phone or camera. Have a look at the new Korum self take station - It’s a very useful and cheap kit for taking photos.. You just need to add a bank stick and you’re good to take photos easily 👍

Circles nothing but bad for the pike they were never designed for catch and release cause more scissor damage than any other style
@RobsAngling2 ай бұрын
Hi Pete, there’s pros and cons to all methods - Circle hooks, snap tackle and trebles included.
@pikeypete46372 ай бұрын
@ circles and singles specifically target the scissors the most delicate part of a pikes mouth it’s not for me
@peterfitzpatrick70322 ай бұрын
I've heard this before.... also, the research papers I've read re. using circles have never definitively come out in favour of them for the reason you give.... I'm not sold on them yet... we need more scientific data, not just follow what seems like a fad to me.... show me concrete proof circles are better than barbless trebles & I'll switch tomorrow !!.... 😎👍☘️🍻
@peterfitzpatrick70322 ай бұрын
@@RobsAngling I agree with you Rob... we really need more data on the subject and less "taking sides" by anglers... it seems to me that maybe people think they can be less urgent, attentive even, with pike bites by using circles... I myself AM open to being convinced of their superiority by objective data on the subject though.... 😎👍☘️🍻
