@aquakenn7 жыл бұрын
Our hoyers will not lower with no power. easier said than done. I had a patient that I was lowering into her wheelchair and the charge was gone. It was VERY difficult to get the straps off and lower her. She was about 300 lbs and terrified. I told them (and you should too) to keep the hoyer plugged in when not in use.

I noticed that too. Especially when he was lifting the man from the bed. It slid a bit. Also I thought that the "feet" should have been spread when lifting and lowering the patient.
@TheJoannebwn19686 жыл бұрын
never use brakes on a hoist, could tip
@Danni3176 жыл бұрын
I'm unsure who taught you that but it is false putting the breaks on when using a lifter can be harmful as it can throw off the center of gravity which can cause the lifter to tip. however he should have had the feet widend slightly.

at least take his dignity into consideration, give the man the button, let him get involved, never criss cross a sling, he has genitals like you, the sling isnt even on properly, hes not on the correct sling going into a lay position, full body sling is required for this, omg the pain , this should not be used as a training video
@theospreygroup43974 жыл бұрын
@@TheJoannebwn1968 There are legal implications to giving the patient the controller, at least here in the UK. Yes, I agree, not the best choice of sling but don't forget that a toileting aperture may have been necessary. As for the dignity thing, until we all become experts in magical levitation we are stuck with hoisting.
@TheJoannebwn19684 жыл бұрын
Before fining the controller you would complete a risk assessment, when hoisting, his legs are a huge risk of being bruised. Try going in from the side. Hoist will always be here. Be kind to people include dignity in all practices
@Stuy_B3 жыл бұрын
@@theospreygroup4397 What an unprofessional answer and to admit in your own words "yes i agree not the best choice of sling " then surely it would be in the interest of service user to have a proper assessment to enable the correct equipment, and as far as a toileting "aperture" there was no demonstration of a toilet transfer. where was the other carer (best practice to have two carers) and brakes should only be applied if the service user is on the carpet or any other flooring and then released after the first few inches of the hoisting, other than that brakes should not be applied to hoists when being used. NOTE TO VIEWERS STAY AWAY FROM THE ABOVE .. THE OSPREY GROUP
