I literally heard from a doctor: " You should stop thinking of your gut. Instead, you should go out and have some fun, think of other things." 🤦🏻 How could even be possible having some fun in a lot of pain? Hearing that from a doctor is even more frustrating than knowing that the doctor is unable to provide a precise diagnosis.

Did he explain the connection between the gut and brain? If you have a lot of stress in your life ( and most of us do) it is important to recognize the gut-brain connection. It is eye-opening to realize how many GI symptoms are related to this gut-brain connection. Fortunately, research has evolved so much in this area and there are a some good evidence-based tools that may help. Check out this free video w Dr. Megan Riehl who does a fantastic job of explaining the benefits of diaphragmatic breathing. Hello, I am new in your KZbin Chanel. I guess i shouldn’t loose my hope but I am at lost. From the beginning till the end of the video I cried unstoppable. I feel hopeless for my issue. I have been suffering with IBS C for a long time not knowing it. I can’t find a doctor to go to that focus on this problem or maybe I don’t know what to ask for. I have watched so many videos from many people but like this one.
@GastroGirl Жыл бұрын
Hi and thank you for reaching out. You are absolutely right--don't lose hope and please know you are not alone. Sometimes chronic constipation is attributed to IBS when it could be the result of pelvic floor issues. You may want to find a pelvic floor therapist who can help you, and/or a gastroenterologist if you don't already have one. We are releasing two episodes (one this week) focused on Women's issues and symptoms related to pelvic floor that you may find helpful. Don't give it!

Hi there, I am new to your channel and I am glad that I found your podcasts. I have been experiencing excessive burping and occasionally pain in my stomach (near the last part of my large intestine.) for about 3-4 months. My doctor first mentioned it was due to constipation. I endoscopy and abdominal ultra sound and they both were normal. I did food sensitivity test and avoiding any food that they suggested intolerable. My Dr says its due to stress bla bla ... and just says IBS without any further diagnosis. I am in a very helpless situation and my situation is not improving no matter what I try. Any suggestions will be welcome!! thank you!!
@GastroGirl8 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comments. The good news is that your test were normal. I encourage you to work with a GI registered dietitian who can best help you determine what foods may be causing symptoms. Food sensitivity tests do not necessarily pinpoint the foods that trigger symptoms. And you don't want to avoid foods solely based on these tests without the guidance of a dietitian as restrictive eating could lead to nutritional deficiencies. www.eatright.org/health/health-conditions/allergies-and-intolerances/are-food-sensitivity-tests-accurate We cannot give medical advice but we can provide resources and information that you can share with your healthcare provider. Life and relationships is impacted at every level with this. I eat a very limited diet. At the 16 year mark after dropping 10 pounds ( 11years later gained it back ) multiple scoping, colonoscopies, swallowing tests, monitors , drug trials, viral tests, biopsies, antidepressant trial ( immediately discontinued due to lightning strike headaches ), Low FODMAP … sleeping with raised bed I gave up everything Isolating becomes a way of life. except Low FODMAP and magnesium ( 1,000. - 1,500 daily ). Eating is the enemy. Called Dr.Mishiree office and upon description was given PA virtual appointment. Many hospitals, doctors later - square one. I quit all supplements and probiotics. Sorry if TMI but OTC interventions are necessary. Who helped you Karen?

@GastroGirl3 ай бұрын
Hi and thank you for your question. We cannot provide medical advice and highly recommend you see doctor who can best assess what is going on, accurately diagnose and treat your condition. IBS-C can cause hard lumpy stools, however, there could be several other reasons why they are both hard and lumpy and black. Black stools could be due to food or medications, but they could also indicate bleeding in the upper GI tract so you need to see your see your doctor. This evidence-based article provides a general overview for reference. www.medicinenet.com/stool_color_changes/article.htm Here is an evidence-based article about black tarry stools FYI www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/black-tarry-stool-reasons
