I think falls are mostly associated with the older generation, but as a (just turned) 35 year old disabled woman, it’s my biggest fear. It really is awful when you fall & hurt yourself on top of other health problems. So I can sympathise with anyone that takes a tumble x

I am 44 and I had a few falls now and even when I was younger, because I am blind and trip over stuff. At the moment, lucky, I have not had serious injuries, but I worry when I get older it is easier to break bones!!!
@LauraBidingCitizen3 жыл бұрын
@@jase123111 Oh Bless you Jason! It really is worrying isn’t it? I also worry about getting older and falls becoming worse and doing more damage as our bones become more brittle, so I do understand that fear. Look after yourself Jason x

I hear ya! Last year at age 34, fell in my bathroom and had to call my parents and get help at 3am...had to call 911 and go to ER cause we couldn't me get up. Even with an emergency call button I keep my phone on me more now and am more worried.

@@bookwormwonder Oh sweetie, I’m so sorry. It’s really frightening isn’t it, & it really shakes you up 😔I’ve just ‘moved’, or rather, I’ve just got my first property (a beautiful bungalow - 1 storey property), & I’ve been waiting for an assessment from an occupational therapist (I live in the UK & once you’ve had an assessment with an OT, they can make arrangements for property adaptions to begin) - so I can have a walk in bathroom fitted. I’ve been staying at my parents until things are fixed, but I thought I’d try moving in; I’ll be fine I thought.. I ended up having a fall in the bathroom (they put a shower over a bath, no grab rails or anything, so to shower I have to stand in the bath), & I caught my leg trying to get out. I had some smaller injuries but it really frightened me as I was on my own. Needless to say I’m now waiting the adaptions to move in fully. I hope you’re doing ‘ok’ now, & I hope with time you can rebuild your confidence - I know it isn’t easy 💗 xxx

My mom has had so many falls due to her medical conditions and they always leave her out of commission for a week or so at a time. Fortunately things have stabilized for her in the past couple of years, but she has had some very scary falls.

Falls and diabetes are a really bad combination, a lot of old people have scars that never heal because of it. Hopefully there is a treatment for it one day as it is horrible.
@pansprayers3 жыл бұрын
That's an unfortunate side effect of poorly controlled diabetes. The only treatment for that is self care and properly managed blood sugar, and appropriate foot wear. This can help prevent falls and assure that your cuts if you do fall don't turn into ulcerations.

Was it just me or did the last GP seem very rushed with the patient? I know they were tending to the fall outside but literally it seemed like she was rushing in and out with her regular patient. When all was done she should have sat down, taken a few minutes then give the vaccine. Otherwise it's like hit and run
@andrewm70403 жыл бұрын
Yeah, she didnt really seem to care for the patient. Could have asked here more questions about how she’s been feeling recently, but said nothing. I guess her mind was on the patient who fell tbh.

I imagine there is a lot of editing involved in this program. They don't show the full 9-5 that the surgery is open for, so like any show like this (where it is filmed "naturally"), there will be hours and hours of footage that we never get to see.
