The section on brushes kind of blew my mind, because I'm pretty sure I've been using brushes backwards! I'd brush an area and THEN alter it, whereas you decide what the brush is going to do and then apply that using the brush, which...makes WAY more sense and explains some of my recent LR frustrations. (I've only been using LR for a few months now.) Thanks for the tutorial, and best wishes! :)

this is helpful for me, for someone who avoids editing like the plague, but then I remember watching your video essay saying I should take 28 pictures a day to hit 10,000 pictures in a year. and a picture isn't complete until the edit is applied, I might just suck it up and learn this thing, I know its good for me, why do you think I put it off for so long, maybe because I convince myself I like the pictures and the colours in camera better? or a preset is cheating in my mind, or is there a way to overcome this deliberate trend of mine to just avoid editing at all costs, maybe I should just learn to shoot film haha but editing is like my krptonite, so I dont know, maybe if I do this it would encourage me to be happy, thank you for inspiring me to be happy :)

I think it helps to perhaps push through and see how much editing can transform your images. Once you start to get a good feel for how to do it, you'll find that process addicting and you'll continue to do it!

Thanks again Pay Kay for your amazing in depth video! When you make adjustments within the HSL slider hold down your option key on Mac or the Alt key for Windows to exactly see where in the image these colors are and how they react while moving the slider from left to right.

You make it a hard act to follow! Always so instructive. What distinguishes your channel from the other editors out there is the amount of explanation that comes with every adjustment. Keep them coming! 🥇

Verry interesting to see your perspective again after watching your tutorials 2 years ago. Gives me new ideas. I hope you know that you can make the color grading circles bigger which makes it easier to work with 👀

ive tried 1/8 1/4 and 1/2 and full 1 strength, and out of all of them, intention is the key. I love the 1/2 but the auto focus tends to hunt, 1/8 is a bit low so 1/4 for me seems like a happy medium, but if you are using it with intention, maybe at night when you want to bloom the lights, or during the day, blooming the highlights and softening the sky, its totally upto you I'd say buy a cheap one, experiment and work on your techniques, but I feel like its good, but not everything needs a dreamy look unless that's your style, its easy to overdo it what do you shoot anyways? and for video, I believe that you'd want 1/8 or 1/4 to be subtle and get the digital edge off or if you want dreamy then go 1/2 or even a full stop and its pretty dreamy hope it helps!

I agree. Like I always say, a photo is 80% how you take it, and the rest is the visual aesthetic on top.

Hi Pat: This was a very informative video. Lots of great tips and techniques. I like your suggestions for re-ordering the task panels within the Develop Module so I have changed this within my LR Classic set-up. I noticed that you didn't change the Profiles settings and I wonder what your thoughts are with respect to using Linear Profiles. Cheers, Keith (Canada0
