Jessie B I’m an artist/creative individual, everyone who is creative and I mean EVERYONE who is creative is fucked up in some way. All the way from they bullied in school and depression up to they were raped by a family member. No one can be creative if they haven’t faced some real adversity in their lives. The most creative people are probably very disturbed in their own minds at times. Patrice I can see had confidence and more important than self-respect, he had self- awareness. He knew what he was, he knew is habits were bad and he was clearly not a happy man. He definitely struggled with depression for one. But unlike most creatives, he was exceptional enough to not need fame or money. He wasn’t in it for that, and I’ll always have a bit more respect for the man even if I love comics who also sold out. Doug Stanhope is a great example, he too is a slave to his vices but he has more insight than 99% of Hollywood or any creative institution.

I watched him live once in a NY comedy club, he was riffing. He said that the secret to owning a debate or a talk show is to say something radical that would stun everyone in the room, something uncomfortable and awkward, only the real ones will have anything to say in situations like that and that’s the kind of people you want to hear speak. You’d already have your next punchline after the radical / awkward comment. And you own the room

He just says the truth. I'm no player or ladies man etc. However, if you just keep it all the way real with YOURSELF, first and foremost, you can't go wrong. That's all Patrice did, he kept it real by FIRST admitting his own flaws, he did not skip himself or have an overinflated ego, and he did not take himself too seriously. You can only truly be hurt by others' opinions or get caught up in this silly game we play socially if you have a big ego or take yourself TOO seriously. However,, if you are real with yourself and admit your own flaws and shortcomings then you are freer to look in the world and see everything for what it is, and when it comes time to call it out, you'll be very strong in your position. You have to admit your flaws first, then the world can't touch you, because that's all anyone can do is be like well "You're ugly", "you're broke..." etc. So what, if you are ugly or broke, the world is what it is, if you are honest with yourself and carry yourself as you are and are unabashedly THAT realness, then how can anyone touch you. The other thing Patrice did that made him so powerful was being ready to lose it all. He was not afraid of losing a gig, he was not afraid of losing a role in a show, he was not afraid of his woman cheating, he was not afraid of people knowing his flaws, he was willing to lose it all and thus nothing and NO ONE had any real power over him. When you are playing this little game of "look at me" or competing with others then you are at the mercy of the social groups you involve yourself in. However, if you are a man that only needs himself and his word, no group can do anything to punish you, you are truly free, and that's what Patrice was, he was free from the bullshit, and that type of power is noticeable, its what we see in him and why we are all fans of his to this day!

There's his later stand-up specials, Mr P, Elephant in the Room, and Unreleased. The Patrice Oneal Show (on youtube) didn't make it to the big screen but is really underrated. Totally fine dude. What are comments for? :) I honestly think the loss of Patrice is something that has changed so much. The way Gamergate came around, the ongoing censorship, Ants Firing. I want to hear his opinions on so much. I wish he was still here so so badly. I want to hear him talk about games and consoles like The Last of Us and the PS4 and XBox One. I want to hear him talk on movies that come out and trash them for the bs some of them rally are and break everything about these new situations down to a perfect point every single time. Always bang on. If not always. 99.9999 percent of the time. I just wish that there was more not just for me to hear but for HIM to experience. Things have changed a lot since 2011 and I think about the 4 years of could have been laughs I could have had. Im 18. Back then I had no idea who he was and never heard of him till early 2013-mid 2013. Since then I have been HOOKED. Patrices vids gave me so much confidence and opened me up in so many ways. I can make people laugh now way more than I could before. Im not afraid of people or what they may say. I know how a lot more of the world works and the people in ot because of these vids and this channel. It tears me up that it all stops at 1 point. It doesnt go forwards. It just ends.all the laughs all the perfect advice and hilarious arguments and retorts he had that always were awesome. Sad. But hey. It happened RIP Patrice Oneal never got yo meet you but youve helped me so much big man. RIP

Well damn bruh, hahha. But I completely hear you though. That's how it usually works. The best never really get recognized until extremely late or posthumously. But, like you, I never really heard of Mr. O'Neal until a couple of years ago via the Kain Carter Controversy (which i think is bs the way everyone went at Kain). I've heard his name (Patrice O'Neal) here and there over the years, but not enough for me to want to look into him prior to the controversy. Then one day I just decided to look into the dude to see how funny he was and was completely amazed at this guy. Don't even remember what the first thing I seen was, but when I did, watched nothing but his material hours at a time for weeks straight. Yea man, that dude was definitely something else that you're not just going to find anywhere. I still haven't watched Elephant in the Room, purposely so I can watch as much of his material before experiencing his lone production piece. Yea man I'm with you, if he was still here today, his thoughts on things that happened since then would be ......priceless. Lack of a better word.
