Patricia Routledge in Coronation Street (22 March 1961)

Early on in her career, Dame Patricia appeared in Coronation Street as cafe owner Sylvia Snape in 1961 for four episodes. Here is a short clip of her very first scenes.
Patricia later said she didn't want to commit to a long running series. It was at this point Coronation Street was starting to become very successful, four months from its launch. Dame Patricia has gone on to have an incredibly varied and distinguished career, and long may she reign.
