Larry Hagman's life was undoubtedly prolonged by his involvement with the new Dallas series. He clearly relished portraying J.R. Ewing and he greatly enjoyed the interaction with Patrick Duffy and Linda Grey as well as the younger cast members. The supreme irony is that the new show is a critical and ratings success and probably will run for the foreseeable future. He would have continued to be an integral part of the series, had he survived.

The filmography in the new show is another factor that of this show that is extremely well done. I really enjoy the 'art shots' in the new episodes, but, you have to watch for them, because they are few and far between, but, exceptionally well done~! The old actors are so incredibly good you can't believe it.. I was hooked after two episodes. The new actors are coming into their roles now, quite well, and I have to say though, the old actors are seriously into the story, and so good!

SOOOOOOOO glad this show came back on TNT instead of some other station and that they, the cast, and Cynthia Cidre took the time over the last 2 years to really get it right. Everything really "syncs" up with the original series and feels like we've landed properly on the other side of the "bridge" 20 years later. Another great sign is that the "new" characters don't really seem new at all - they just fit in properly with the framework of the original series. Congrats to all - it's lotsa fun!

After Larry/JR died, the show died. The Ewing/Barnes fued was thrown away and the Ewings were put way back on the back burner. The show did a complete 180/360 degrees, and shod have ended with season 2 - tied up the entire saga and both series perfectly and beautifully with a bow in that season finale.

Oh - ALSO, as far as the sets are concerned, I think there's more going on here than meets the eye. Remember that Southfork can also be considered a character in and of itself ("Ranches are people, my friend!" - Just kidding. :-P) Thus, as with people, the ranch itself is gonna be upgraded / adapted to modern times with redecoration...But while Southfork in the original series looked like a mansion (prob. shot w/ lotsa wide-angle lenses), now it looks much more like a humble, 1-family house.

"Dallas" was my favourite show and still is. I looked forward to it every week. The new show hasn't aired here in the UK yet, The original series was broadcast by the BBC network but they declined the new version, it's been bought by one of our smaller networks (Channel 5) and it starts next month. I can't wait! I think the BBC has made a big mistake.

The script was indeed good during the first season, even though Leonard Katzman would have written it better. It was really during Season 3 that it all went downhill, and the script was barely resembling the original series at all. Too bad, the series would still be going on, one of the greatest series ever made.
