Can Duncan now make a book and title it "it's fine if you draw it and if you don't draw it it's also fine" #RoadOfThePleb
@indigo55777 жыл бұрын
I say this with all due respect, but Patrick Hoban really is the real-life Seto Kaiba. -fan favorite -rich -a powerful and skillful duelist -carries himself like a champion (see book title) even when there's plenty of events he hasn't won -has an ego that holds him back (he's gotten into arguments/fights after losses) You can call Djinngate an equivalent to when Seto ripped up Grandpa's Blue Eyes

It was a pretty good book, favorite part was about personal bias. With personal bias in your way, its hard to grow as a player. But i must say, NLM was a really really good book too. hoban doesnt go over stages of the game like in NLM, i mean yeah two different games but still.

i wrote my own book as a ToDo List for new metagames, its quite similiar to the chapters:) To understand how human brain works (subconscious, fears, comparisons and addictions) is THE BASIS OF SUCCESS in life, no matter if its a cardgame or business. Patrick Chapins book is great btw ... if you like Magic, read it!

The MTG pro's name is Patrick Chapin. His two books, Next level Magic and Next Level Deckbuilding are excellent books. They show off how skilled he is as a player and think. I mean this is the guy who has topped many Pro Tours and is in the Magic Hall of Fame. There's also a reason why Chapin got the nickname within the community as the "innovator". As for Hoban's book, it does seem very similar to Chapin's book of Next Level Magic, which it has been a while, but I'm currently rereading it. If anything, I'll be sure to check out Hoban's book. Though, personally, I'm playing a lot more Magic than YuGiOh nowadays. If anything, I do value proper grammar and spelling. While this should be obvious for anyone who writes, I especially expect this of anyone who actually publishes a book. How can I(or perhaps anyone else) take them seriously, if they cannot put the work needed to do proofreading? But regardless, I'll be sure to check out this book. Great job, Glasgow. You are shaping up to be one of the best Yugitubers out there.

+Neil Ganti Chapin is quite the legend in Magic and from what I have read he has some rather well put together theories (far better than the nonsense of card advantage theory) but I will say this he does on occasion fall into the trap of looking at cards without looking at the support around it.

Funny that you mentioned that it was academic and might be tough to grasp for the average player - I found it simplistic and thought that it was reiterating basic concepts and theories that I learned throughout University. Didn't really stop to consider that the majority of readers would not necessarily come from a similar academic background... Good review, good upload. #Roadofthepleb lol

Reading the book atm most of it is pretty well put together though the mental aspects he goes into at times is a touch well out there but on the whole a decent read if you wish to improve your performance in yugioh(not sure how applicable it is to other cards game I know it doesn't even remotely work for Vanguard)

#Roadofthepleb One thing that I think could be cool is if someone made like an ongoing story, like the anime, but it was more set in the real world and showed how it is to be an actual competitive Yugioh Player

+Matt Rickman I also found his example to be bad because I tried gladiator beasts in Nekroz format and also never lost a game to them in fact due to their lack of dependency on the extra deck and the fact gladiator beasts had searchable and reccurable effect negation and can utilize a bunch of effects while minimizing the amount of non-interference played and also often couldn't be trish'd as they had all their cards on field meant nekroz really had no options left to counter them. Only things that could where post side cards like denko and decree. Honestly I feel like Gladiator Beasts thrive in formats where aggressive decks are being played rather than ones with lots of backrow as it means they can use a low monster count and utilize their best ability which is to have access to such a wide range of effects through one card and be able to build a field through nothing with samnite and secutor and late game with equeste and darius.
@SangaXD446 жыл бұрын
Do you happen to remember your build? Because I can almost guarantee that to beat even a below average Nekroz player with Gladiator Beast, you'd need to be playing some amount of floodgates.
