I feel kane makes a lot of sense if trouba stays. He’s healthy and was just under ppg, take a discount to come back and i’m down w that. If drury can somehow offload trouba, guentzel would be the best option.

So we got from the Rangers needing more grit to talking about adding more skill and soft players. That being said if they can sign Zadorov and Kane I'd be happy with the offseason. But if we learned something from the past 3 playoff runs- and the success of the Panthers- is that skill is not enough. Toffoli? Give me a break please.

@@shawnlewin9057 If he plays with Kreider and Zibanedjad YES HE DOES. And BTW the top line of the Rangers is the Trocheck line as far as I'm concerned. The numbers don't lie. It's about time that the commentators stop with that label of the Mika line. Trocheck is the type of player the Rangers should aim for to get the so called "top line" becoming a true first line. Kreider and Zibanedjad need help. But at this point I am wondering why nobody is able to fill the gap on their line. Maybe it's because they play like a duet. Maybe it's time to try something else and put them on separate threesome. Anyway Rangers need more grit upfront and on defense. Not to win during the regular season but in the playoffs for sure.

I think a contract length would normally be the most important thing to the average 35 year old but Patrick Kane is more than a player. It's a name that will make him money long after he retires. Imagine the value of the name "Patrick Kane" if there are pictures of him in a Rangers jersey hoisting the cup? That alone is worth millions to him.

As a Panther fan who follows the fan sites of teams they are opposing, I'd say you guys definitely need more gritty guys. After watching the Panthers dominate teams in 3 straight rounds (in terms of puck possession), this was not the case against Edmonton. I thought the Panthers were better in maybe 2 of the 7 games. Vegas odds released with the Rangers not in the top 5 (that's all I saw) favorites for next year. I was surprised to see Carolina, a team the Rangers defeated, as favorites in the East. I'm not sure what's going on here as I would have thought the Rangers would be higher than them. Perhaps Rangers have important players that are free agents?

And yes we need more gritty guys, but the price point has always been a problem for the rangers. Signed Goodrow at too high, and now he's gone. I think in this market it's hard to find gritty players, because you never know what you're gonna get. With the panthers it was the coaching style and all the right pieces ended up fitting. That's hard to do.

Laf will not take that. He knows he worth more. And he is 22, only going to get better. Either gonna get a large long term contract (lIke 7.5/8.5 for 7-8years) or a bridge for like 2 years at like 5 mil. Also the cap is rising incredibly over the next couple years. 5 mil now will be like 3.5 in a couple years porportionally)

I had a couple thoughts... start with laffy always risk of an offer sheet from another team as well ... bigger thought was what about trouba and kakko to Columbus for Laine at 50 % retained... 3 yrs left 8.7 m per... might have to kick in a pick or 2 or take on the gudbransson contract as well but would still come out around same dollar amount

I don't see a big splash in salary spending, unless a big name is traded and one gets added. We have plenty of scorers. Last thing we need is another Primadonna waiting to get the puck passed to him. ESPECIALLY on Line 1. I truly see Drury looking to fill in vacancies on top 6, with either Orthmann or a rugged winger who scores about 40-50 pts, but brings size and nasty. As for the bottom 6, we have them. Sign Wenneberg as 3C, give Rempe or Egstrom 4C, Vesey, Brodz. Chytil trade for used hockey pucks. Mr. forever untapped Potential.

a lot of people forget that the Rangers played with Chytil on the cap the whole season and didn't play. I think he has tremendous skill but we all know.... one hit away from retirement.

@@LoosMoose Problem with guys like Chytil, they are fancy skaters, but don't fill the net. Always potential, a hot streak, then gets ice cold and disappears for stretches. The guy averages 12 goals a year. Why would we pay him top 6 money, Vesey had 12 goals, he's 4 th liner!. Rangers have always fallen for the flashy Euros. Brings not grit, his slot needs to be filled by a head banging 3 or 4 th liner. i'd rather watch Rempe wreak havoc on the ice and score only 5 in a season, but not watch Filip get great chances and miss the net.

He was really starting to open up when he went out.... what 10 - 12 games into the season???...but i do agree he doesnt have the grit Rangers need. Would love to see Rempe really turn it on with strength training and skating he could be a really important piece. He has the chance with a strong effort.

I think Kane would begood if you get him at a bargain. No more than 3 to 3.5mil. One year deal. People talk alot about grit, well we already have sizable guys that can be gritty. I think Brian Boyle said it best, "they just need to change there attitude " and play with an attitude. Bring up Rempe and Endstrom on the 4th line and you got grit. Lol. We havethe size, they just need to do it. And the Oilers proved that the Panthers grit didn't do much in games 4,5, and 6. Their speed and skill is what got them through.
