Nobody could ever be John Steed but Pat MacNee.

One of the best actors of old england, this kind of acting is long gone .... and of an glam era long forgotten.

Cut crystal voice. I believe he was a member of the aristocracy. His father was an earl or baron.

I remember watching this when I was young. I thought he was the coolest guy. I had a crush on him forever. He was so sexy and classy . Even as a older gentleman he was still very attractive. Love him forever.

Patrick McNee: ever charming at any age. I was in high school when The Avengers came to the US, and all us girls wanted to BE Mrs. Peel and had a crush on John Steed. I happened to be at a film screening decades later and was standing next to a small group of people in the lobby. I realized that one of those people was Mr. McNee, and I was so in awe, I just stood there. Didn't try to meet him, just stood next to him. (And he was even taller than I thought.)

If you have Britbox all surviving episodes have been restored and are available. Honor Blackman was the first kick ass lady then Diana Rigg followed by Linda Thorson and later Joanna Lumley. Series 1 to 4 shot on videotape and 4 to 6 shot on 35mm film. 6 and 7 shot on colour.

It was much better in the early years in Black and White.

It's amazing how Patrick Macnee was talking about school shootings back in the 90's. America and their gun crazies never learn do they? Anyway, he was a remarkably charming man.

And here I am 2023 another school shooting. But did you know Mcnee was a US citizen ? He became one in 1959! That most British of gentlemen was an American and fairly early on in life. Ironic eh.

Patrick, once told me a story about when Lorne Greene and he used to act on stage in Toronto, I do not remember the name of the troupe, he told me this around 1988.... Every time they would get a 'pittance' of pay, back then, Lorne would try to cajole Patrick into giving some of Pat's $ to him, to invest in a fledgling company. Patrick would always, politely, decline. Patrick said, to me, that when Lorne went off to Hollywood, for that "silly Bonawnza thing"(trying to get his accent) that Lorne was doing 'quite well'! "You see, Allen, that fledgling company was/is...........................................I.B.M. ! Lovely man, was Patrick Macnee! 🌠🪐

Macnee really took over that interview. I would have loved to hear him talk and talk, if he had more time.

It bugs me how they were laughing at what he was saying , it’s partly because they don’t understand his upbringing, it was pretty rough and he was affected by his mother and it made him eccentric in many ways. He was big on nudism. He was strange and perverted in many ways (not necessarily in a bad way)

Conan talked way to much back then. Good thing he slowed down.
