Patrick page is a pure legend. Hunchback is the best musical ever and his frollo is amazing!!!
@patford84885 жыл бұрын
Agree 100% with your first statement. I’ve seen Mr Page a few times on stage and I find myself studying him even when he is not the focus of a scene. I saw Hunchback at La Jolla and while I found it compelling it was far from the best musical I’ve seen. Two main points. First, there was too much storytelling. Don’t tell me the action, show it to me. Second, there was too much focus on Frollo and not enough in Quasimodo. I actually found Frollo’s arc more interesting - partly due to Mr Page’s mesmerizing performance - but the show was supposed to about another character given the title. Still it’s one of my favorite Disney animated films and I was delighted when it finally got staged here in the US, and with the darker elements from the novel.

Had the privilege to meet Mr Page at stagedoor after the April 27th performance of Hadestown. They don't come any more genuine than this man right here, let me tell you. From the moment he stepped out of the door, you could tell how kind a man he was. During playbill signings, he stopped and spent 5-10 minutes talking with EVERY INDIVIDUAL who he signed things for, and ended up staying the longest after the show to visit with fans. Patrick Page is a treasure, and to see him get so much positive recognition does my heart so good. He deserves it.

he’s the kindest guy! i stagedoored after a Sunday 3:00 pm performance, about a week ago, and some people hadn’t stayed for we raise our cups/bows so i was like 3 rows back from the stage door. I’m also 4’8, and too socially awkward to ask to move to the front of the line, so I’d given up on getting my playbill signed but my 5’9 mom was there so I knew we’d get one signed by her. At the point that Patrick came out, I’d scooted up a little, so I was just two people deep but I found a window in which I could see everyone coming out but i would’ve smacked the girl in front of me’s head if I handed someone my playbill for a signature. Patrick starts making his rounds, saying hello to everybody and signing everybody’s programs, even those who are in the very back which has progressed to about 5 people deep. He passes over me, which is understandable because he could at most see the top of my forehead. He doubles back, looks me directly in the eye-bent in half to do so as you can imagine because he’s 6 foot-and gestures for me to hand him my playbill with a kind smile. I, an idiot, take approximately three seconds to realize that he’s addressing me, even though I’m itty bitty and made no move to try and get my playbill signed. I’m like 85% sure I pointed to myself and said “me?”. He has an incredibly warm gaze just FYI. As he’s signing my playbill, I tell him, probably barely audibly, that he was fabulous and I loved him in hunchback, which by his estimation I would’ve seen it when I was like 7 (I’m 16, so I was 12 during hunchback at paper mill but i also look like I’m just starting middle school by the most generous estimates). I get the most genuine thank you I’ve ever received in my life. I don’t know if it’s just his voice, but just comes off as the warmest person. The fact that he went out of his way to make me feel included and to sign my playbill is just astounding, and it’s something I’ll never forget.

What a wonderful man. Brilliant stories. Sometimes you can just feel the positive atmosphere radiating from a genuine and kind person. Someone able to take stories with less than ideal scenarios in them and spin them in a humorous and lighthearted way while reminiscing. He’s also phenomenally talented.
