And the PGA has stopped viewers from calling in violations. That means that if the shot is not on camera or an official isn’t standing there, the player can get away with it. This morning I watched a kid that really fought Tiger on his third Amateur win. The Kid (name escapes me) actually reminded Tiger to replace his mark before putting because Tiger had forgotten . If he hadn’t told him , he would have won automatically. The announcers said it was the best sportsmanship act they had ever seen. The kid played only in two PGA events, (I think) didn’t make the cut and that’s it. He took Tiger to extra holes and at one point was six holes ahead.

I love Patrick Reed. He's a golfer I can relate to. When I see him play, I think "Hey, I could make the tour one day too!". I've been known to accidentally kick my ball out from behind a tree or tee up an iron shot out of the rough. Thanks for being an inspiration to us weekend warrior golfers and giving confidence to all of the "Joe Six Packs" out there.

What was he doing taking full practice swings? And hitting the sand? 6:01.24 No club shall touch the ground before making contact with the ball or during the strike. He toook a practice swing and hit the sand (stroke) then touched the sand twice more before attempting to strike. That’s three strokes and no beer until the clubhouse
@renejean25232 жыл бұрын
It's a waste area/bunker rather than a regular bunker, so a practice swing can touch the ground. In a regular bunker that swing would be considered testing the sand and is not allowed. The issue in this case is that nowhere on the course are you permitted to improve one's lie, which is what Reed did here.
@thetruthchannel46342 жыл бұрын
@@renejean2523 Thanks. I never knew that about a waste area bunker. I was watching live When Johnson grounded his club in a tournament in 2009? And was penalized. It cost him the tourney and I think it was a major. They mentioned on air that players were given a sheet of paper describing the designation of each sanded area. And YES Reed clearly moved the sand back not once but twice. Shame !!
@renejean25232 жыл бұрын
@@thetruthchannel4634 - It's crazy. How much has Reed earned from his cheating compared to what it has cost him? The waste areas are pretty rare in golf really. And clearly Johnson thought he was in one that day. Mind you, as I recall there were people standing in the bunker so it's not surprising he made the error of thinking it wasn't a regular bunker. He really should have read his handout though. But unlike Reed, there was no intention to cheat anyone. And Johnson was on the final hole of a major. Reed was in some two-bit non-PGA Tour event. I'd say we've all had the temptation and opportunity to cheat at golf, but the vast majority of us never do it. I take penalty drops and count them, even when I'm playing on my own. Otherwise I can tell someone I shot 72 but a voice in my head says, "No you didn't. You shot at least 74, and you know it."
@thetruthchannel46342 жыл бұрын
@@renejean2523 I was amazed at how well Johnson took it. They showed that on camera. Imagine sitting there assuming that you had just won a major, and then someone walks up and you find out that you came in 2nd. He shrugged his shoulders and was totally cool. I’d like you to watch another video. It’s Kevin Kisner Cheating or something similar. I follow the Kis. He is ranked #39 and I’m trying to copy parts of his swing . In the video, he hits the ball twice. It’s a little flop shot from just off the green. You can hear click, click. The video guy says he cheated, but the ruling has changed and indicates that if it was unintentional than there is no stroke. They also did away with charging a stroke for the ball hitting your body. I learned a tough lesson. In a tourney, we were playing lift, clean & place with relief from casual water. I picked up the ball In just enough water to qualify for it to be picked up. However, the rule says , closest dry place no closer to the hole. The closest dry spot was in the woods. I would have gladly taken it BACKWARDS as far as to get out of the CW but the rule reads CLOSEST DRY AREA. Makes no mention of impediments (trees. Etc). I would have used two more clubs and choked down from 145 out. Just choke a 7 iron and hit ball first . My other claim to fame is that I once putted for Eagle at Bear Creek GC near Houston and then had to play a lost ball. Off the green, down into weeds and cattails. Never found it. Took a 7

That has to be the most egregious, poorly masked case of improving of the lie ever caught on camera. And the that it's by a Masters winner, just adds to how stubborn this will be in the annals of golf. Factor in, though also, that it is a particular player/masters winner with the personality/character narratives surrounding Patrick, and it is liable to dog him, this will, for the rest of his career.
