As a Red Wings fan from the 1990's we knew we were up against it when we played the Av's thanks in large part to the wizardry of Roy defending the goal... What a time to be a hockey fan!!! Great work team @DNVR Sports 🎅🏒

We felt the same way in reverse.I didn't start following hockey til the Avs came here-so I'm not talking before 1995.But I still say '02 Wings are the best team I've ever seen,& '01 Avs are #2. Pains me to put you ahead of us-but im trying to be unbiased on this 1. In '02 the Avs werent quite the same as '01-& I was so proud we even took you to 7 in '02 WCFs.And with the salary cap now-its basically impossible for any team today to come close to the depth of talent of those pre cap era teams. What'd those Wings have-10 future HOFers or something? As I tell young people who didn't see them...Forsberg & Federov were 2C on those teams-lol. Future HOFers who won league MVPs,& scoring titles...Forsberg was the best player on earth for at least 3 or 4 yrs when healthy...they weren't even 1C cuz of Stevie Y,& Sakic.Lindstrom is still the best dman I've ever seen-maybe Makar catches him some day. Rob Blake was arguably #2 or #3 in the nhl at the time,& Bourque still finished 2nd to Lindstrom for Norris, despite being 40 or whatever. Never mind Adam Foote. Wings had a core that'd already won back to back Cups...then added like 3 or 4 more future HOFers in '02-& Chellios a few yrs before that. And if Konstantinov doesn't get paralyzed in that limo accident-that dude was a monster,& scary great. You can't stack teams anymore like those. Even the 2022 Avs-undoubtably 1 of the best cap era champs-just don't compare in pure talent. As much as I loved Naz Kadri-100 pt pace over 82 games in 2022-he wasn't remotely the 2C Peter Forsberg was....nor Sergi Federov who was flat out electric.

I'll get a ton of hate for this but man did I love Roy as a coach for the Avs. I wish he and Sakic could have gotten on the same page and he would have stayed. The record Roy had with Colorado as head coach is amazing when you consider the team he had back then. His passion for the game definitely inspires players to give as much as they can. I think that's part of why they won so many games, not to mention the games Varly stood on his head!

GREAT interview Megan!

Why doesn't Patty Bratty Rooah tell the truth? His career in Montreal was made by Steve Smith, and his career in Colorado was made by Eric Lindros. Else, he would be NOTHING.

I love Patrick Roy! The missing piece to win the ‘96 Cup.

More than that-still the greatest goalie ever probably

Any goaltender could've won that Stanley Cup for them. The Avs were awesome without him, and were helped by the fact that they took advantage of a winded Wings team.

I remember those days! In just a matter of a few months Pierre turned Denver into a hockey town........the play off series against the Red Wings was epic!
