I don't blame the influencers this time, because SBF and FTX were thought to be legitimate by plenty of big name mainstream players. SBF was on the Cover of Forbes magazine, and was chatting with senators and testifying in Congress. And companies like Blackrock and Sequoia Capital were investing hundreds of millions into FTX. So, I don't see how you can be angry at some young KZbinrs who also thought that he was legit. I agree that influencers should face consequences for promoting obvious scams, but this wasn't particularly obvious.

They create value the same way anything has value as a currency. If people believe that it has value, it has value. Cryptocoins can be valuable if enough people believe that by investing in them they can make a profit by selling that crypto later on.

@rykehuss3435 so we can start giving value to our intestinal gassy exulsions?. Well no because that has not enough mystique to fool buyers. But it's the same thing.

I come to this channel for straight forward, comprehensive collation and analysis of financial news. So I was not at all prepared for my boi PB to casually be slinging weapons grade shade like he was here. I think this is what it looks like when he is genuinely angry or offended with someone, and I love it.

I've mostly been watching this channel to get some updates on the financial state of the world, and get some news regarding economy I might've missed on my own. I'm not sure if I missed Patrick's sarcasm in other videos, as he usually seems to be just a source of facts. But the level of trolling he's laying down on FTX in this video is just savage. And doing so while keeping a straight face throughout is really something.

I was a bit down when I started watching these videos. But now, I am thinking that all my problems are with other people. I put pen to paper and I have started a list of names. Also, I have done some more work on the manifesto. I will mention your KZbin channel and credit you with my newfound mental clarity. Thanks

Even after having Patrick explain it all so thoroughly, I feel like I know less now than I did before, but only because I better understand the scope and scale of the problem. I can however say that I know significantly more about sultry wood nymphs than before, and I never realized they had such close ties with the murky world of crypto-finance.

With inflation running at a four-decade high, a recession is now the most likely outcome of the economy. How can i grow my portfolio to outpace inflation and maintain a successful long-term strategy. I have been reading of investors making about $250k in the current crashing market, i need ideas on how to achieve similar profits vc

You’re right that these problems aren’t about crypto they are about systems without checks and balances, but the primary use case of crypto is to skirt checks and balances so it’s hard to imagine things turning out any other way.

The primary use of cryptocurrencies is to keep government out of the money business. Government ALWAYS destroys its own currency and most people get crushed along with it.

He just said the opposite! Crypto is the root of the problem! Crypto is a ponzi scheme -zero net sum, supper high fees, zero protection from counterparty risk!

@@goatface6602 De-centralization of monetary power is the primary goal of crypto, but it has been clear for some time now that the crypto ecosystem has been becoming ever more centralized. One of the few differences from normal financial institutions is that crypto companies are much less regulated, even when providing similar services to their traditional counterparts. If "traditional" money is bad, unregulated and speculative kid-run digital money must be a nightmare, and as we saw in the last years, it actually is.

Easily the clearest (and funniest) explanation of the FTX mess I’ve seen. The one bit Patrick left out (and I’m a newbie to your channel Patrick so forgive me if it sounds like a critique, because it is definitely not - you are my favorite sit-down comic right now) is that the reason investors didn’t do their due diligence on FTX was that (allegedly) every time a potential investor asked to see the books or scrutinize what was going on behind the scenes, SBF would just blow up at them and threaten to “move on to the next investor, there are plenty waiting in line” or words to that effect. And instead of seeing that as a red flag, they allowed themselves to be intimidated and taken over by FOMO. It seems that it was only when he was desperate for a cash infusion that SBF allowed an outsider, CZ, to look behind the curtain. That CZ turned around and torpedoed FTX must have been an incredible shock to the system for someone who had been allowed to get away with BSing his way through everything his entire life. May a similar shock come to all such spoiled bullies, and may it be soon.
