As a former UK investment banker and later corporate lawyer, I have never laughed so hard. Excellent work, Patrick. I love that the tech bros think that they know more about crypto than Patrick, when the opposite is clearly, demonstrably true. I warned about the fundamental issues with crypto back in the early 2010s, and was shouted down by people - ostensibly clever people - who have now lost a lot of money. The fundamental issue now is that regulators are still trying to catch up, but crypto by its nature is inherently difficult to regulate, so it is a haven for fraudsters. It was as though it was designed solely for scams and money laundering - it's the perfect model for achieving nefarious purposes, as we have seen recently in various court proceedings.

Everyone wants to get rich quick, and Crypto has shown itself to be the perfect vehicle for encouraging that sort of desire. The problem is that Crypto Currency Investing is effectively a zero sum game, unlike traditional investments such as in company stocks which can increase in their absolute value over time as the company grows over time or otherwise produces economic output that can lead to dividends or the like. For one person to get rich on Crypto, countless other people would have had to basically buy from them in the hopes of later selling it later. But that loop can only go on for so long if you don't have any underlying fundamentals, making Crypto effectively a scam with no underlying legitimate economic function.
