You can just get a mixing board and connect it to the two-input interface. Swap out instruments using the inputs on the mixer
@devonc99Ай бұрын
do you connect audio metering devices through the mixer? I’m really not trying to get a new interface but I cant connect any of my db displays or spectrum analyzers, would it be better to go the preamp receiver route? I really don’t mind digital mixers but analog mixers seem like a cheaper way to get more inputs

I focused on a lot of hardware and synths and I’m now trying to get the recording and computer daw working with it. I’m definitely going to use templates how you have it set up but for my own needs. These were great ideas.

I wanted to get the Tascam Model 12 because it’s a multitrack recorder and audio interface which handles many connections but I have a mixer and maybe I need to look at some rack mounted interface too. I’ll keep looking. I know a lot of people say good things about the model 12 but I’m going to do more research.
@deaddoll1361Ай бұрын
Personally, I think starting off with a small interface is the way to go. Being a musician is financially taxing enough, especially as a student. I spent quite a sum collectively just on vocal lessons, without buying any "gear". Adding a couple of guitars and amps, a keyboard etc is expensive enough. The whole home studio is potentially a massive money pit, and can get in the way of the reason you started, which was to create music. Gear acquisition syndrom can be overwhelming as can the financial strain. The gear industry is well versed in luring their prey, and although it's guitar players that are the easiest victims, home studio types are on the radar as well. Look at all the KZbin channels aimed at vocalists, there aren't that many because there's no gear to sell to them. Guitars are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum, because they'll buy everything! I did buy the book though. 🙂

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing. I just started my home studio in Jan 2024 (after a 10 year hiatus of playing music). This is super helpful. And I’ve focused on maximizing the flow of recording to track ideas right away. Thank you! Curious on how you like your MPC?
@PatrickBreenMusic2 ай бұрын
Hey Felipe - Glad to hear you're back to making music and getting your home studio set up! Appreciate the comment and kind words on this video! The MPC is cool! IMO, it works best as the centerpiece of a workflow, working on the MPC itself. I was using it with a DAW and it just didn't end up being the right piece of gear for me. Analog drum machines and samples work better with my workflow. I think if you're interested in the MPC style of beat making, it's absolutely worth checking out!

Gear can be very helpful for example.. I bought a behringer umc 404 hated it its drivers sucked.. Then Got the Focusrite 18i8 3rd Gen. The Drivers on that enable me to drop my pc buffer size down to 64 now playing stuff on tracks feels amazing

all I want is an audio interface under 500 dollars that has all the inputs something like yours has, I have all this nice audio metering equipment and I need something to connect it all together. got a decent focusrite but I need a single rca input, extra duel rca inputs on the back, 4 jack inputs. cheapest way seems to be a home theatre preamp audio receiver just to connect it all. why doesn’t anybody talk about set up connections and how many wires you need? I feel so lost after 20 years of live playing and not caring about av tech other than being able to plug my stuff in and play, I don’t have the desire to spend on equipment like instruments, but it seems like to get anything working I need 5 other things
