Because his music is bad. In the grand scheme of things growing through social media was going to be a thing with or without Soulja boy youtube was going to be the next big thing with or without Soulja boy. So artists were going to be on it with or without Soulja boy. And MySpace was originally supposed to be for musical artists and bands to post their music so obviously that would have been done with or without Soulja boy too. As someone who actually lived through it as a teenager and not a child I can tell you Soulja boy didn't have as big of an influence as everybody thinks. Yea crank that blew up for a summer and people made different versions but that's where his influence in music truly starts and ends and it was a horrible 1. All those songs were awful

Additionally, he created the blueprint for every rapper who's established themselves through an online presence. He'll go down in history as one of the forefathers of the streaming era and an influence for nearly every new rapper that is out today. Not a lot of people can say that.

Been a fan of Soulja since summer 2007. Crank That made my summer..there were so many different variations and edits. The first internet dance craze. I can’t defend all his business decisions (like the Soulja Game😩) but he’s a pioneer and deserves his props for that.
