For USA Citizens: I submitted my FBI background check to be apostilled and it took about 77 days (it expires at 90 days). I did another FBI background check and after sending to Washington DC to be apostilled I contacted my state congressman to fast-track the process; I subsequently received it at my house in about 10 days. **Keep in mind: The background check clock starts ticking when conducted and not after it is apostilled.**

Hey, thanks for this vid! I'm a Canadian and New Zealand citizen, living in Canada. I haven't spent much time here lately, and have spent a lot of time in Madrid (Spaib in general). Looking to give up Montreal for a new life in Madrid and this visa seems like the best one for my situation. The thing is, I'm not a "digital" Nomad... I'm a true Nomad! I lead tours for a living, and lately have been escorting tours in Europe (including Spain) for a Canadian company. I also work for other American companies, leading tours in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. All of my income comes from these companies and/or from rental income (Airbnb when I'm not in Montreal). I get paid in my US, Australian, and Canadian bank accounts, and I'm a tax resident of Canada (Quebec). My question is, does this visa still apply if the work I'm doing is not done in Spain and I want to reside there when I'm not on tour? Having escorted tours in Spain this year (but being paid by a Canadian company) would this potentially affect my application? I know it's an unusual situation, but I would appreciate any advice you can give! Thanks again!

Patrick, just to clarify about Spain's tax requirements: As an American digital nomad applying for a long-term dig nomad visa in Spain (and staying longer than 6 months), I would be taxed at 24% for my work income regardless of where that income is earned? There’s a simple answer, and it’s linked to income taxes. In the US, one pays a low tax rate (percentage is 1/2 or less at the same income levels as Spain), but higher for health insurance. In Spain, the nominal rate for taxes about 50k is 44%, but health insurance is lower. Even though the bucket called health insurance in Spain is lower, the 24% income tax balances it out.
