Great to see an Esh here! I also have one, a Sovereign fretless with a beautiful ash/walnut burl body. Also with Esh-Tronic but with Jazz pickups (Kent Armstrong as well). However, the bass that I'd take to the grave is my Clover Apeiron H.5 in Lake Placid Blue. A modern 5-string Jazz Bass with Delano TheHybrid pickups (J/MM). In stock config, running it passive splits the humbucker, active switches it to StingRay mode. It delivers an absolutely authentic passive J sound and a very convincing StingRay sound (not 100% just because the pickup is closer to the bridge compared to a Music Man). I modded it slightly so I can also play it active with split bridge pickup for a Marcus-Miller-like sound. 4 knobs and 1 switch that deliver _all_ classic sounds I need, tasty and timeless looks, awesome feel - this is the bass I take everywhere since 15 years now!

Awesome video as always, Patrick 😎🤘🏻🎸 it’s really cool to see the show me what you bass clips and there are some nice looking ones on this one. Personally I like the jazz basses, the esh bass(Peter Steele from type o negative played esh basses), the Ibanez tmb, the sterling sub series bass, the schecter stiletto bass(I own one myself and I love it 🥰 😎🤘🏻🎸), the g&l bass, the reverend bass looks pretty unique, and the Warwick streamer(a friend of mine own one and it sounds really cool).

Hi Patrick, my name is Jus10, I'm a bassoholic, and have been bassing for 35 years, currently I bass a custom built Johnny Toon four string, it has three octaves, with Lace Sensor pickups, Sperzel locking tuners and a Babicz saddle bridge. I enjoy all bass styles with this instrument and currently play progress jazz, funk-rock 😎

Locking tuners on a bass sounds strange lol.

@@davids2629 you will need them for *three octaves!* for sure 😁

Yes, Patrick, you really do need to try out G&Ls. I own three, and love them dearly. Check out the L-2000 or L-2500 (I would recommend the M-2000 as well, but it looks like G&L has stopped making those. So glad I was able to get my hands on one!). I'm spoiled now with my Spectors, but I'll never stop being a G&L advocate. :D

Patrick, you absolutely need to play an L2000 or L2500. Also, I have an Esh Sovereign 5 string with old school Barts in it and it is one hell of a bass for modern sounds. There is one in an Austin GC with weird owner paint job that I have been looking at for a backup. Great basses.

The main advantage of 1 piece over multi piece is no worry of delamination. However, when bonded properly multipiece should be stronger than 1 piece. Hence for laminated necks being popular especially in basses where strength matters more.

I have a German custom shop Warwick thumb NT 5 string and I will be buried with it. Also got a black stingray 4 stringer and I love it. But I’m looking for a sparkly red one and that will complete me.

G&L L2000 is a great bass. Ernie Ball needs to bring back the Sterling Humbucker/Single model.
