This is so good. It's difficult to unlearn a familiar habit but the student had a great attitude and the coach was really encouraging. Short cross opens up so much more of the court. Great stuff. 👍

I really love this way of learning a new technical skill passing by going through preparatory exercises and then trying to apply this technical gestures in the court, during a rally or a match. That's interesting how coach Mouratoglu started with this girl... he made several compliments to her and when she initially made mistakes he continued to encourage her. Great job coach, you're the best!

What I love about PM is that he always encourages the player and doesn't let them go into self-criticism mode. 4:50: the player is about to lightly chastise herself with an average effort but PM comes over the top with "good job" 3-4 times while looking at her in the eye. Let the player make mistakes while learning.

Althought modern tennis is characterised by the importance of power of the shots and the physique, it is equally important to find angles by every court areas and put the ball in precise points, even at the expense of strenght.

Nice session, yes she has to go more under the ball and use left arm! Also she can use her body a bit more to go easily cross as all should not rely on "arms only"! When you open more just before the contact - than its easy to go cross! 🎾

The lesson I got has nothing to do with the actual mechanics of the backhand but rather to move my feet all the time hahaha I will be more aware of this in my tennis training låter on in the day.

Her hip is too locked so she cant get rotational power. Her front toe needs to be pointing down the court instead of being parallel to the baseline.

@@harryp3804 We can't judge a fish by its ability to climb trees. Tennis is not their number one sport. Cricket is and they have the infrastructure for it and the results. Tennis, they have a few flashes here and there. It is surprising you call doubles a sham! I don't know if you are doing that to discount their achievements or hold doubles in contempt in general?

This is commonly used to improve technique. Several reasons: You can control the throw much better when you're just feeding it closely by hand compared to playing it with a racket from across the court. You're close to the student and have a better angle to analyse their strokes. Focus is on the student's movement, not on handling all kinds of balls from the opponent. Also - watch the video. It's one of the basic teaching methods. You start easy (feeding by hand) and progress to more difficult (playing from across the net and further). Apparently you're not a teacher.

You could not be any more wrong. Hand feeding is an art that has developed many world class players. Playing comes in match play and match play only. Every kid looks amazing hitting with a coach but many fall apart in matches. You use hand feeds to work the player into all sorts of different situations. Then they play practice matches and tournaments to work on what they learned.

Hand feeding and basket feeding are only good for working on techniques. To truly get a player to high levels, a coach needs to hit with the players.

Best of both worlds is to hire a hitter and the coach observing close to the player.
