I haven't been to a real arcade since the 90s because they don't exist here anymore. Didn't think I'd be interested in a claw machine but ultimately I think I want to be able to recreate a whole arcade at home and that would include things like an air hockey table, a coin pusher, hell even one of those horse jockey racers

I have been looking at claw machines for a while. I like the price of the A1Up claw, but I’m concerned on the quality. If they put the A1Up claw on sale, I would definitely pick it up. I’m surprised there was not a preorder discount.

Nice well balanced take on all the options out there. And as they say, options are good. I picked up the Vevor mini claw a few months ago and super happy. Got it on sale for $355CAD, which is $263USD. Almost half the price the 1up will be. Really solid metal construction and a lot of bells and whistles of commercial claw machines. I think it's very helpful that you pointed out the size. For me, it goes perfect in a shelf next to my cinema popcorn machine. The size is a much better tradeoff with the quality over the 1up(for my taste) but others may want it to go with other cabinets they may have. So that's something one should consider and nice that you pointed that out. 👍

Don’t have a scale handy to check, but the typical licensed plush I win at Dave and Busters claw machine is about 7” tall and made by The Toy Factory. Based on the CoolToy video, seems possible those could be light enough.

About half a pound can hold which isn't much TBH but i like the overall style minus the artwork, My idea like most would be to reskin it. $499 is a bit steep being cheap 1up quality. $399 would have been a good price which i can see when they sit on many of them down the line. All in all best to wait till the claw kinks are solved if they have any to start with. If you pre-order on Amazon, don't they charge you when they ship the item or do you have to pay in full is my question?

We go to a retro arcade where my girlfriend spends $20 bucks on the claw machine convinced she will win that $1.00 stuffed animal!! 🤣 It's cool for the retro vibe and maybe adding one to your mancave arcade room just for the looks. If you are gonna have this, then you need a token/change machine as well. The table top one would be nice for $200 bucks.

Just can’t justify $500 on that. I just picked up a Silver Strike cabinet in almost perfect condition without the PC and included the I/O board and security board. With my PC and hard drive (I have connections), I will only have $400 total invested in it. As I’ve said before, I can pickup a used commercial claw machine for less than $500 that needs minor repair which would be so much better than the A1Up unit, so it’s a big no for me.

I can't even imagine what A1up is thinking with this disaster. They should be exploring 25-26 inch 4/3 monitor options. Also there's no reason a arcade that originally had a 19" monitor should be 17" and 3/4 scale.

I have the Vevor machine, and frankly it doesn't feel all that well made. The electrical cord comes undone. You can only put very small prizes in it. It's nothing special. I think perhaps you were unduly critical in this review.

I have a Vevor Claw Machine and it is very sturdy and works great. I’ve managed a vending route and even wires occasionally come loose in commercial machines. Many kids and adults have played my Vevor Claw Machine and moved it a few times and it’s just as strong and works just as good as when I bought it.

The AC1up unit is the right size for me, but that 200g weight limit is a deal breaker. My concept was to use it as a display case for my plush collection which I have won from arcades but ultimately I'd like it to function too. Mini claws are a waste of time, no matter what grade. You just don't get the same feeling playing them because of the scale. It would be like comparing a table top MyArcade to a full size Arcade 1up.
